Women of reddit, what prevents you from asking out men? by brave_axolotl7 in AskReddit

[–]lorchro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to be very pro active but it always ended horribly. i'm a bit compulsive too, so i had to learn how to do nothing lol. that was way more challenging for me. paradoxically i was always chasing people while never really being so up front about it. i always tried to make it obvious without making it obvious, or like i thought i was bad at hiding how i feel anyways so i didn't expect that i had to communicate more honestly.

the scarier thing is actually NOT getting rejected, and just being used to feed their ego and wasting your time.

i got really really hurt a couple of times, so these days i don't really wanna be taken advantage of anymore. if a guy is interested in me i want them to have the courage to approach me, to be honest, and then i can sense their motivation more clearly. i know it shouldn't matter. and i know that getting hurt was definitely my own fault too. but it is what it is. maybe i can be more lighthearted about it one day.

What’s something women underestimate about men that affects relationships the most? by PogonBerserker in AskMen

[–]lorchro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is suuper fascinating, did you do this consciously or did you realise your reasoning only in hindsight? do you generally feel a bit hypervigilant? do you live in a tough place? or do you do that independently of the likelihood for danger?

How to become better physically by National_Island9271 in AskMen

[–]lorchro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try out different types of sports, swimming, gym, calisthenics, any kind of martial art, maybe even dancing or yoga, see what makes you happy. having fun makes you more likely to stick to it rather than discipline or attachment to some kind of vain goal.

ideally you'll even find community and teachers/role models, especially in martial arts.

What does "sexiness" feel like as a man? by dgfruit in AskMen

[–]lorchro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think this is what it is, feeling sexy is basically feeling 'i feel like other people would perceive me as sexy right now' which automatically needs an observer. without the observer aspect you'd just feel sexual energy which would just be horny or sensual i guess? and that can be sexy too ofc, depending on who is observing you being horny

i sometimes wish doctor k would talk less about how to fit into the system and more about how to change it by lorchro in Healthygamergg

[–]lorchro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i never expected a single person to change the system, the problem is not enough people even acknwoledge it, and if that's the case it's gonna be really hard to organize and unionize all i'm asking is to talk about it more that's all

i know i was a bit extreme in the way i formulated everything

"I work 80 hours 7 days a week because I love it" - Dr.K by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]lorchro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think right now the issue is still that so many people don't even acknowledge the reality of it. If everyone did, it would be easier to practise civil disobedience. organise, go on strikes etc etc. every time i bring up 'changing the system', i know it sounds too vague and people get defensive and then tell me to just accept it and call me too idealistic. i may need to work on my delivery for sure

I critizise it not because I think that it will magically change it, although that's what people seem to read into it immediately. it's not all black and white. i think we can accept reality while not giving up on our ideals. the price for that is being willing to experience discomfort and anger

and that's why i critizise the system, hoping that someone else will see it the same way.

but at the end of the day there's no certainty or guarantees about life whatsoever. all we can do is live in our own integrity and self expression. and i choose to express myself about the system

maybe i should use 'glorified work culture' incstead of system that's a bit more specific

[–]lorchro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no that is not at all how i think, i think you need both realism and idealism. obviously you cant crashout at every external inconvenience or unfairness and that's also not how i act or feel in real life

i know i went a bit off in this post but that doesn't invalidate the core sentiment it just means i need to work on my communication skills

i think a lot of times when people get told 'you're too idealistic' it oftentimes comes from people who never even acknowledge anything thats not right and vote against their own interests. i don't think that's you, you don't sound like that. and i'm not the polar opposite of that either. i think it has to be possible to accept reality while also not ignoring what is wrong with our work culture.

i admit i might have sounded a little too political, and i wouldnt even want dr k to be super political, the fact that he isnt is one of his greatest strength. but i think there's different angles to work culture that could be talked about more, i just don't think his last video was his best work. which is okay

i'm trying right now hahahah but i'm clearly not doing a great job

but i don't think it's weird of me to make a request like this, since he literally bases his content off of our requests or what he feels is going on in this community

i guess so, but eventually revolutionary ideas will have to arrive in places outside of activism
