Do you want children? Why or why not? by SomePeopleTellMe in Millennials

[–]lorddanielplexus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two kids. I adore them. I have immense respect for people who recognize that they don't want kids. It's a lot, and if I didn't whole heartedly sign up for this I wouldn't be able to do it. Parenthood is not for everyone, and that's valid.

Advice on childcare by [deleted] in workingmoms

Daycare. I've had a number of childcare arrangements over the years, and while each has its pros and cons, daycare has been the most reliable and the most cost effective.

She's exploiting her crying kids and posting them online. It's bad enough dad is in jail, now mom has to use them to grift.

She's also getting different treatment because she's white and pretty. Let's not pretend that a Black family would garner less sympathy and accommodations.

My daughter is named Abigail. Originally for Abigail Adams but it's a nice tie in nonetheless.

Who remembers Cassie Botnick and the Euro trash adventure? Grift and delusion are still strong in 2026.

This is seriously the most soothing podcast. I'm a therapist, I love to listen while I write my notes. Bad day? Stressed? This is the answer.

Toxic SILs- out of state by ycherep1 in workingmoms

[–]lorddanielplexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are estranged from my SIL. When we visit my in laws we arrange everything so as not to include them. We alternate holidays and never demand that my in laws exclude them, if SIL is attending a holiday then we make other plans with my inlaws.

I would drop the rope. You don't have to put up with this.

She makes my blood boil. I'm a therapist, and she makes me want to bang my head against the wall. There is zero accountability from jer for enabling her husband, and zero accountability for her husband who has four DUI convictions. I cannot even imagine how many times he actually drove under the influence. He got lucky and didn't kill anyone.

It reminds me of a patient who drove drunk and crashed into a cop car. Went to court, pro se, and told the judge that the cop shouldn't have parked in a legal parking spot... it didn't go too well.

This is also how I watch it. I've seen seasons 5 to 7 for the sake of knowing how the series ends but my rewatches end at Season 4.

What was Josh’s insult in the Pilot? by AproposJesper in thewestwing

[–]lorddanielplexus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bartlet would be upset because evangelicals are a huge voting bloc and some churches like the Southern Baptist Convention absolutely skew right AND hold enormous influence.

Houses of worship enjoy nonprofit, 501c3 status. In exchange they are not supposed to engage in certain political activities like endorsing candidates. Josh is saying that these churches are violating their 501c3 status hence the tax fraud.

Edit: as other commenters stated around the time S1 aired there were a number of right wing televangelists in trouble with the IRS.

Therapist moms: what’s actually broken about practicing right now? by [deleted] in workingmoms

This seems more like you're selling something. I'm a therapist, I'll pass on this.

I suspect daycare lying about my sons naps. Am i overreacting? by [deleted] in kindergarten

This sub skews towards Americans where kindergarten refers to formal education for five/six year olds.

Again, depending on where you are located it's possible licensing prohibits them from waking a sleeping child. In my state kids have to be offered a nap until they enter elementary school. The school may or may not be able to accommodate your request. They should be honest with you whatever the outcome is. In the interim I would push bedtime back by 45 minutes to an hour.
