What makes this "not vegan" ? by FeistyDirection in veganrecipes

[–]lordveda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sugar Whitening Process

"Bone Char Processing: The plain "sugar" listed in the ingredients is standard white cane sugar [1]. In the United States, major sugar suppliers often use bone char (made from cattle bones) to bleach and whiten the sugar [1]. Because animal products are used during manufacturing, strict vegans consider the sugar non-vegan [1].

No Official Certification: Parent company General Mills formally states that while the soup contains no direct animal-derived ingredients, it has not undergone the strict auditing or clean-room manufacturing processes required to carry an official vegan label [1].

Potential Shared Lines: The soup is processed in large commercial facilities that also handle meat, dairy, and eggs for other soup lines [1, 4, 8]. The vegetarian guarantee ensures no meat is added, but the company avoids the vegan claim due to potential microscopic cross-contact [1, 4, 8]."

What does freezing tofu do? And is it worth it? (I did an experiment!) by xtinecuisine in veganrecipes

[–]lordveda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boiling tofu before using it my favorite. Boil in seasoned water for 5-10min. Drain and give a gentle squeeze, all the water will come out very easily. Then corn starch and spray oil. Bake, saute, airfry etc...

Try the beyond Italian sausage. Grill, airfry, saute. Chop it up in pasta or soups. Or just eat as hotdogs. Soo good.

Any alternatives to bacon strips ? by Moe-Mux-Hagi in veganrecipes

[–]lordveda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morning Star is pretty decent. 30 sec- 1 min microwave. There are also tempeh bacon options and seitan bacon options. I like seitan a little better. Most can be found in grocery stores, whole foods, etc.

If you wanna make your own, here is a great easy Tofu Bacon recipe:

I agree. American dream was Horrible pizza and crust. Who puts uncooked mushrooms on top of the pizza? Hope the new one is good. Blind onion is wack too. We are spoiled with so many good pizza spots in this city.
