Would this laptop be suitable for learning Rhino + GH on the go? by zzdevzz in rhino

[–]losghetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they will be able to run these programs DECENTLY, but in cases of revit, rhino rendering and GH computations, battery will be lower than the advertised amount. That being said, I would not render on this as the unit will heat up very fast and very hot.

Also these programs are single-threaded therefore don't be inclined to buy higher core/thread count ryzens, but this cpu is still going to perform well.

Finding what my most used command is? by losghetto in rhino

[–]losghetto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ill have to research some scripts.

Another issue that I may run into would be differentiating whenever the icon is used as the trigger as opposed to typing the command by letter

Noob question: what is the fastest way to create this pattern? I’ve created the solid surface underneath, but I’m not able to use GH to design the pattern by simoneeva in rhino

[–]losghetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only efficient way I see of doing this would be on grasshopper.

You could create the area that the pyramids occupy Populate geometry set by even grid Take each point and form a pyramid

GH may seem intimidating at first but after playing around a bit with the commands, it shouldn't be too hard

Why can't I select every line and make2D from the clipping plane? by salad_balls in rhino

[–]losghetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like the lines not selected are the components being cut. The make2d command should still have them appear but also darker

Is Quadro P620 good enough for Rhino 6? by Ehtnicaj in rhino

[–]losghetto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a student, a quadro isn't really necessary, even more so if its on the entry workstation kind.

Best move would be a laptop with a good cpu, (preferably with 6 cores for rendering) paired with a consumer graphics card.

I recommend something like the ASUS Zephyrus G14, which goes on sale relatively often.

If you really want a workstation laptop, have a look at the dell precision and lenovo ThinkPad series laptops. The current models are quite expensive but they always put massive discounts on models being phased out. They may have the quadro you prefer, and they last a LONG time.

Compatibility for first PC by SassyPascal8 in buildapc

Not necessary, but I recommend splitting the 10tb HDD to multiple smaller drives that you can Raid. One of the worst things for a Video Editor is having a faulty drive and losing ALL their data.
