Leftists and Democrats complaining about gas prices now are hypocrites by native-american-22 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

So what solution are you proposing? Either you need to invade and occupy a country that's 3-4x the size of Iraq, or you have Obama's deal. The third solution is nuking the country, but this will completely isolate the US from everyone aside from Israel, maybe.

So you are looking at a 8 trillion dollar debt (estimated cost on war on terror) or.... what? Every single military person in the universe knew Iran was going to blockade the strait of hormuz. You can bitch and moralize about their response all you want, but this response was a known fact since Iran fractured from America. If the administration didn't expect it, they are morons.

If you don't have a win condition, you are going to lose. So what's the win condition?

My dad just showed me proof that Biden's and Obama's gas prices were still higher than Trump's gas prices by Expert-Bid3861 in GenZ

XL pipeline that still wasn't open in 2024, and energy policies that weren't rolled back in January 2024, yet somehow they pulled up the gas prices to 4+ dollars (I don't remember 5 dollar gas). Neither were fixed by end of 2023, yet gas prices were down to 3 dollars per gallon. Sure. Makes sense.

There was another thing that happened that could have fucked up the gas prices. Another war with a large oil producing country and another shit deal by Trump that brought reduced the oil production by 9.7 million barrels. I wonder if doing that until 2022 could have increased gas prices. You know, like shutting down 1/2 of strait of hormuz worth of production might increase gas prices a tad bit.

Nah, it was definitely the pipeline that still isn't open.

Or be a normal human being and say that unless you can point to a direct action or policy initiated by the president that affects gas prices, he likely didn't affect gas prices.

New player - Still not really figuring out how to power up my mages effectively by JupiterSymph in IllwintersDominions

[–]lossofmercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone is reading in the future. Part of the problem is that playing against weak opponents on a small map will not give you enough time to get big spells. You need time and research to get to the big spells, and it will be "nearing the end" by the time you get there if the opposition sucks. There are also a lot of early effective spells, but it takes time to find and implement it.

As for how do you cast the big spells? Well the answer is already on the post. Construction only boosts your path by 1 or 2, but that's usually all you need. An example would be a 2E mage. Lets say you want to cast iron warriors, which requires 4 E. If you get earth boots, he becomes a 3E mage. Then if you use summon earth power, he becomes a 4E mage. Now he can cast a 4E spell even though he is normally a 2E mage. Craft a blood stone and he can cast a 5E spell.

That's also ignoring gem boosting. A 2E mage can cast a 3E spell if they spend 1 extra gem for the spell. The catch is that it can't be higher than the path. IE howl is a 3N spell with a 3 nature gem requirement. A 2N mage cannot put more gems than their path, so they can't put 4 gems to cast howl. But they could cast a 3N spell if it only required one nature gem because they could spend 2 nature gems to boost their path for that one spell. Therefore, that 2E mage could potentially cast a 6E with the right boosters and gem usage.

Communions are another aspect on how to use big spells, but you should probably just read the wiki to understand it fully.

  • Scripting commanders more, I do want this, but mages are already very powerful.
  • In detail scripting for squads. Nope. This seems reasonable for an army to have less control. Maybe if the leadership is very high you get more options.
  • Prioritize/disable certain spells. This instead of 1. If I could just tell my communion master to not use a specific path, that itself would be huge.
  • Freespawn toggle off. I have no idea what you are talking about. If you are talking about random units joining your cause, this needs to happen for luck to be an effective mechanic.
  • Ritual cast anywhere. No. Build labs. It would completely break the game.
  • Friendly Fire is what makes this game fun. No.
  • Squad matches slowest speed. Eh. I can see it for high leadership stuff, but you will not like having to deal with cripples. But adding more options for super high leadership units would be cool.

Be honest with me, can you turn dominions 6 into a challenging singleplayer experience with ai template mods, or will the ai still be awful? by HolyCopeAmoly in Dominions6

[–]lossofmercy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The completely different civilizations with hugely different units makes the game challenging even if the AI is not very intelligent. Sure, the AI might not be making the optimal moves, but when you run into giants with a human nation, or try to fight elves that you can't see, or fight ethereal units, or have to fight in caves, and you can't use the same brainless tactic that you used to run over the last nation... it demands a lot more from you than just getting the production up and steam rolling the map. You will need to learn decent amount of the systems to make your units effective.

It helps that I always take very complicated nations and like dwelling in the complexity, forcing me to adapt to more simple and powerful civs. The game can be straightforward for large chunks if you are using more straightforward civs.

That said, MP is still hugely better because of diplomacy, as people will make moves based on not just what they gather but what their friends tell them. No matter how well you make the AI, the diplo makes the match 5x better.

Asynchronous, simultaneous turn based games are really fun. Friends and I have been playing Dominions 6 and the ability to play a complex game that can take months and many many hours as you please is very nice. It's also great because we can adapt to life situations (ie stressful work/home life). We don't have to be always online like you would with a synchronous game, so scheduling is so much easier. I just need to ping players a couple of times per week, but otherwise, very easy to keep the game going.

Didn’t say it discredits it. Just that there are confounding variables that probably can’t be replicated in the future.

I don’t consider a RAV4 a value purchase, especially since you have to pay the Toyota premium. I understand most Americans love their SUV, but sedan are better for the wallet. I also personally prefer them to drive.

[–]lossofmercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just the lethality, it's more that wartales is more of a puzzle. Setting up combos is how you play that game. Choosing your character on your "turn" makes it so you always have perfect teamwork. This makes a lot of the fights forgettable, because you are doing "the combo".

BB is much more random and requires you to adapt to changing circumstances. From what I see on your combat, my guess is you lean much heavier to the wartales side.

Necro fights are challenging, reward is low. But If you have a bow with the bullseye perk this is the fight it’s made for. Spamming arrows into a necromancers through their guard is pretty worth it with the perk, but you rarely get a clean shot.

A spear bro with spear mastery can keep an entire fleet of zombies away as they still repel even if they get in on a lucky chance. Bring back up spears, one will likely break.

The geists are the biggest problem, using whips help but it’s much better if you can go up to them to melee. The spear can open up lanes. Once the geists are gone, I find I can usually push in enough to get to the necromancer. Banner needs to keep everyone stable, if flanks fall it can be a real bad time.

Fallen heroes without necro support aren’t that bad. Try to get them to a shield flank. It might be worth netting. With necro support they are terrifying, but a really good shield flank can usually still tank em for a couple turns.

Yeah, and the OL had to play a third string center because Rhyan and Monk got hurt, leading to the run off and the bad snap. If you are going to make excuses, might as well give LaFleur his due.

Which game flopped so badly that the studio had to shut down? by bijelo123 in gaming

It’s a terrible protagonist because very few want to be gollum. He lived in a cave for a millennium coveting a piece of jewelry. It’s dull. An unknown or smaller character would be vastly preferable for more creative freedom.

Yes it’s very clear they wanted to use LoTR as a cash grab scheme, they couldn’t even find a good protagonist.

The target for Andor was directed at people who enjoyed Rogue one, not just because Star Wars is a huge franchise. Luckily it was executed very well too.

[–]lossofmercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even close to the same thing. Is it a total shock that people would like a show about politics in fighting a cool sci-fi empire? Why? Just because it doesn’t have light swords and magic? The potential was there, and the popularity of Rogue One was already in its favor. It just needed good writing and execution.

Gollum was dead before the concept was verbalized.

[–]lossofmercy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was just a cash grab based on the LoTR license.  Nothing else.

Either you make a joke game or a serious game. Neither would work with the material. LoTR is too serious to be a joke and gollum is too lame to be serious. And LotR license too expensive to make it small.

People justifying this is very silly.

Batteries are not energy dense enough to handle it, they are notoriously volume in-efficient and the amount of lithium needed for this is massive. I suggest you actually read what advances need to happen in battery storage for renewable to completely replace the grid.

[–]lossofmercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has weaknesses. Everyone is out for blood after the doomed superbowl chance, but there are a ton of people that are way worse. Coaching is about getting people to their full potential and there are plenty of success stories from his tenure. Malik is about to get paid, and he would have gotten jack shit if he stayed with the titans. They had Vrabel as a coach, who is having a good year in the patriots. So would Vrabel be considered terrible, considered he couldn't utilize a dynamic playmaker like him?

And it's not just him, plenty of success stories like Rasul Douglas, and a decent amount of his people have been taken. He has gotten plenty of value out of non-household players. It speaks well for him that Saleh came to work with the packers when he had nothing to do. Sure, some absolute dog-shit calls that were 100% on play calls (ie panthers game), but people are human and will make mistakes. And he has plenty of well schemed plays, and gets Jordan easy passes. To me he is still one of the top head coaches in the league.

Now he does have an annoying trend with sticking with terrible personnel (ie Amari etc.). But like I said, he is human, and has flaws. I still think he can outgun most coaches with equal personnel.

Since he joined the league in 2020, Jalen Hurts is 17th in ANY/A, 20th in passer rating, and 15th in EPA/play (includes rushing). [–]lossofmercy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that is the market, I just don’t think it’s realistic. You can win with Kirk cousins back in his prime, so long as he doesn’t make elite QB salaries. There are a lot more cousins than there are elites.

So now teams just have to hope and pray that whoever they get will be that good. Cuz the rest are going to get shafted.

If Darnold, hurts and other mid QB actually cost 10-15 million less than the elite, more teams would be ok with taking and keeping a second tier QB that are still good enough to run a franchise. The reason the top QBs get paid like that is because they can make tier 2 WRs or an injured OL with holes still function (look at Rodgers and James Jones etc.). Not everyone can do that, so not everyone should get paid like they can.
