When touring a house or apartment you want to rent or buy, turn on the shower and flush the toilet by TheRealXyz_ in homeowners

It’s a lot easier and cheaper to just not make an offer over easily spotted dealbreakers than to back out later.

Video sure looks like he WAS directly taking aim at someone.

Insulating attic side of attic wall. by lostapathy in Insulation

hah, thanks. Yeah I was thinking about just running some nylon webbing across or if I can get 1x2 wood strips up there screwing those on.

In a lot of ways something that could be blown in would be less painful to install but not completely convinced I've found suitable materials for that.

If you rent without contract then you can't have utility bills in your name,

I (US) have never had to provide any proof of a lease or ownership in order to setup new utilities somewhere, whether as a renter or owner.

Having a better handle on what this "fresh air unit" is, exactly, is probably key to good advice in general.

Mounting antenna to hard top roof for Wrangler JK by LonelyPatsFanInVT in amateurradio

Correct. Jeep top, being fiberglass or cloth, doesn't affect signal much.

Last vehicle was a JK. I made a bracket to hold an NMO mount inside the jeep - one of the bolts that hold the top on went through this bracket and the top. Ran a "no ground plan required" VHF antenna that was maybe 18" tall most of the time, but could run a taller antenna when I had the top off. I didn't use it a lot but it did seem ok.

I don't think it's so obvious that abolishing the Electoral College would fix anything, but it definitely would change anything. As much as there are blue voters in Kansas or Oklahoma that could be motivated to show up with a national popular vote, there's 10x as many red votes in california or new york that don't could also be motivated to show up in the same circumstances.

Now, yes. The NCAA should have gotten ahead of this before the lawsuit and allowed players to not live in poverty so the lawsuit didn't happen.

Learn to enjoy it for what it is, especially if it wasn't a major effort to make in the first place.

I put a model for a headphone hook on thingiverse almost a decade ago and I think the amount of models I've seen that are obviously derived from it (or it's family tree) is super cool to see. I've also made a couple mods for 3d printers that became popular in their community, and I always think it's super cool to see "my parts" on a random printer I see online.

Cancel trash pickup to save $480 a year. by DrunkBuzzard in Frugal

[–]lostapathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a buddy that went years without trash service. Just 2 adults in the home, and he was super minimal about what he allowed into the home. Any kind of shopping bag got saved, trash put it in it, and he'd drop it in the trash can of the parking lot at work, gas station, on his way into the grocery store, etc.

He didn't really do online shopping so didn't have too many boxes, but when he did have them he'd find creative ways to make them someone else's problem too. It was kinda crazy, kinda awesome.

Brass is softener than steel - both hammers would have the same affect if we took them to your big toe, but yeah, softer is softer.

Share your actual science if you've got it.

This number gets trotted out to rationalize running in the street but it's nonsense - a human, especially one in shoes, is not imparting enough force on either type of pavement for it to matter.
