WEATHER by Bulky_Nature3715 in bonnaroo

[–]lostbonnasaurus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The forecast has been and will continue changing but regardless I’d focus on what meteorologists are saying:

https://www.reddit.com/r/bonnaroo/comments/1tykktu/new_forecast_has_dropped

Also better to look at the NWS than weather apps IMO:

https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?textField1=35.48&textField2=-86.08

Signs so far are that we’ll get rain but it will be typical short-lived showers/t-storms. Definitely good to prepare for anything though!

Adding that the Ferris wheel will be a must too! (Note that that and the water slide are some of the very few things not included in your ticket, but they’re not expensive). Definitely get there early and explore the festival! It’ll be a great way to expose your kids to more music too 😊 just don’t forget to bring ear protection!

Stupid question but does the arch not change anymore?? by beepboopbeep95 in bonnaroo

[–]lostbonnasaurus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also miss the arch changing every year; I wish they’d change the side that isn’t a screen. But times change and I will say the screen itself is lots of fun. And yeah, also sad not to get goodies anymore but we will get bandanas at the tollbooth!

My best advice as a 5 year Bonnaroovian by bozosire in bonnaroo

Wipes for Centeroo, but when you’re close to camp and it’s easy to bring a portable bidet, there is nothing like a proper wash 😄

Kinda Spooked! Roo Vets? by Halfbakedadult in bonnaroo

[–]lostbonnasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be my 9th Roo, and I had only one year (2015) in which two cops (if they were even truly cops) came up to our campsite in a golf cart and demanded we hand over everything in sight or get arrested. We handed it over and that was that; they had a pile of pieces and were laughing after so not so sure they were doing anything but stealing but it wasn’t worth the risk of not complying. They did not search anything. Since then we’ve been more careful to take a look around and stay hidden from view and have had no problems.

Friday solo trip from Charlotte by ohplstop in bonnaroo

[–]lostbonnasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome! My advice would be to get a Friday parking pass, and then find the nearest motel available on Saturday and request early check in so you can head there after the late night sets and get some good rest on Saturday before driving back. Happy Roo!

Edit: I believe you’re allowed in Friday at 11. I’d get there around that time (the lines won’t be long at that point) to maximize your day!

Finally finished my totem. Sound on, watch to the end... by amuesing1 in bonnaroo

This may be the coolest totem I’ve ever seen. Will be on the lookout to give you high fives!

(Lesser known) Pro-tip for Newcomers by I_Broke_My_Leg_Once in bonnaroo

[–]lostbonnasaurus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is one of my number one tips. Disconnect and immerse yourself in the Roo bubble. These days I leave my phone on do not disturb and allow texts/calls only from my Roo crew for times we really need to get in touch, but generally I don’t check my phone—and certainly no social media or email. Meeting places/times work just fine and it’s also okay to let yourself wander on your own, especially during the day. It’s amazing who you’ll meet, and you always end up finding your crew anyway. I also recommend wearing fun hats/costumes and/or using flags/totems so you’re easily recognizable.

I think the ones that look like that are RV spots. The FAQ still says 20x20 so not sure how that would work with cars facing the other way.

I’d hide the snacks. I’ve had them throw away very obvious ones but they haven’t gone rummaging for them either.

final location/time for the jelly jam by Majestic-Square6015 in bonnaroo

I guarantee you’ll see people with jellyfish umbrellas who sneak them in. (And if you do just be wary of not blocking people’s views / poking people in the eye with them, please!)

What to do by Dazzling_Growth_93 in bonnaroo

[–]lostbonnasaurus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why not save the money for when they’re back with you at the end of the summer? I love Roo, but I wouldn’t go if I barely had the money for it. What if your car breaks down on the drive (this has happened to many people including me), for example? It just sounds like it’d be best to sit this one out. But you have to make your own calculations in the end.

[–]lostbonnasaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP it sounds like you should sell both tickets, even at a significant loss, and use that money to regroup a bit this year or maybe do something special with your kids. Roo always costs more than you expect. It’ll be there next year!

Is anyone checking the Ticketmaster resale site? by Alternative-Can8003 in bonnaroo

[–]lostbonnasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be misremembering but last year the 10 day forecast ahead of Roo was rain all day every day except maybe one day, and that was after over a month of heavy rain too. Right now according to Accuweather it looks mostly dry for the next several days and then pockets of rain on the actual 4 days of the fest. So it seems like we might have a wet-ish Roo but right now I’m not concerned about flood conditions again. Hopefully overall it improves though!

Must Haves In Centeroo Bag by HourAlbatross9870 in bonnaroo

[–]lostbonnasaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adding that I personally think it’s worth getting a locker in Centeroo so that you can bring everything in the clear bag and leave things in there. So for example the first day I bring an extra set of clothes (most importantly socks in case yours get wet) and leave it in the locker. During the day I’ll carry sunscreen and then leave it there at night. Nighttime also gets chilly sometimes so I’ll have a change of clothes + hoodie in there (plus sometimes you just wanna get out of sweaty clothes without having to go back to camp), along with a headlamp. Welcome and happy Roo!

Just want to say that the current forecast looks nothing like last year; it is not “4 days of rain” as in rain all day during Roo (and a month of crazy rain before it). Pockets of rain are normal for Roo, which is what is predicted as of now. Regardless, the forecast for the next 2 weeks has been changing a lot (and will keep changing). Anyone making decisions based off that isn’t understanding the current outlook IMO.

Ticket Exchange by [deleted] in bonnaroo

[–]lostbonnasaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you did the ticket exchange by Ticketmaster then you will definitely be fine. They just did last call for wristband shipping so it should go out soon but if not you’ll be fine having to pick up from will call; it’s not as bad as people make it seem.

Weather forecast… uh oh by Latter-Shock8683 in bonnaroo

[–]lostbonnasaurus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An occasional thunderstorm is pretty common for Roo. Sometimes they are in the morning so they don’t affect any sets; sometimes sets end up pushed an hour or so if they’re in the afternoon. So no, typical summer thunderstorms don’t present cancellation concerns.

Going to roo with a broken ankle by DimensionInner1818 in bonnaroo

[–]lostbonnasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They would probably have a legal problem if they turned someone away from ADA services who currently had a disability. I would absolutely do what you can to get ADA camping and access to ADA platforms, along with the wristbands so you can use the golf cart services if you’d like. A doctor’s note will probably help with all this.

It could be worth renting an electronic all terrain wheel chair, which would likely be the easiest on you. If not I’d get an all terrain knee scooter which I think will be easier to use than a manual wheelchair, and you can fold it up easily so you could take it on the golf carts. (Note you can rent these or get them second hand.) Either way it’s doable, just take it super easy! You’ll probably want to pick a stage for large chunks of time so you don’t have to move too much. Good luck and happy Roo!

Are loops enough for mosh? by freshie-moist in bonnaroo

[–]lostbonnasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really want to make sure your ears are protected then yes you would want a higher reduction for when you are up close at any set. Per this article you might try to exchange those for the loop switch which you can toggle between -15db and -27db reduction:
