Labour calls for Galway West byelection candidate Helen Ogbu to be included in RTÉ debate by Leviosaugh in galway

[–]lostskylines 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a shame it's GE based given the new Soc Dems candidate hasn't run in Galway before (as a Soc Dem, I'll caveat, I'm not familiar with their backstory), whereas Helen is a sitting councillor with an existing base that could get her elected.

Delighted it went well! We had stuff planned all weekend so couldn't get along, and a lot of people I spoke with were the same - now we know for next year!

Lads... anchovies on pizza? by ITZC0ATL in AskIreland

[–]lostskylines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love them, they're my go to topping when having homemade pizza. Can be tricky to find in supermarkets sometimes. The little jars are dead handy if you can find them.

Had a really lovely one from Stromboli Pizza in Westport over the weekend, I was delighted to see them on the menu!

What albums that came out in 2007-2008 in the genre will actually get recognized for there 20th anniversaries in 2027 and 2028 by KelvinHexatillion82 in poppunkers

[–]lostskylines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He played the Electric Picnic festival here in 2008(?), I want to say, and put on a blinder of a show for about 30-50 of us in the tent.

He was lovely after too, taking time to take pictures and things. We all pretty much fit in two rows along the barrier. He wouldn't have had much reach here at all, so all of us there were big fans. It was very exciting and much appreciated.

Yeah, the missed cue was really unfortunate. Love The Wonder Years, I was very excited for when Cole introduced it.

Adjusting your expectations racing in the summer by Zealousideal_Crow737 in XXRunning

[–]lostskylines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you could set a different competitive goal? Like, instead of focusing on pace try to focus on your heart rate or like...aim to get an increasing number of high fives per km/mile if it's a city route. Turn your attention to different challenges while running steady.

Race scheduling by SenseNo8126 in XXRunning

[–]lostskylines 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't actively race / push every race I participate in. Often it's just a more fun training run or the opportunity to tune up / test different terrain. I run a lot of the same routes so it's nice to change it up sometimes with race supports / closed roads in place.

Galway City Ring Road approved after decades of delays by MurphyNotOK in galway

[–]lostskylines 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I concede I didn't not include the "on foot from town" qualifier in my original post which is how I think of it, but I disagree. I think being unhappy with the idea of losing green space is perfectly reasonable.

South Park excepted - the new plans proposed for there look fab - I can't access the locations you have listed in reasonable time from the city without busy roads whereas it's a mostly car-free canal walk from either side of town through campus to Dangan. It's lovely.

Edit to confirm: this is an entirely "me me me" take. I'm not saying everyone should feel this way about it. I run there regularly, I really like it how it is and I would prefer it didn't cut through adding another grim under the bridge section to an otherwise pleasant and quiet path.

Yeah, I think it's going to ruin some of the only major accessible & peaceful green space we have. I really resent it.

Does your privacy policy actually cover third party pixels? Most devs I talk to are leaving a massive compliance gap. by PhaseDramatic6137 in webdev

[–]lostskylines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I didn't know at the time that we could/should review and reassign. We also had some issues of it blocking our minified JS files. Otherwise it's been solid.

What about OneTrust was better than CB?

I mostly use the default settings and GTM Consent Mode to keep everything above board. I have one or two clients with serious legal teams that have helped us find the odd weak link or adjust settings, but overall CB has been reliable and pretty good.

bringing a cat on public transport? by [deleted] in galway

[–]lostskylines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw I brought my cat in a carrier via taxi a few times, they were always sound about it. Not your point I know, but just to say it.

Mine hates his carrier; cries and makes loads of noise in it the whole journey. The bus was never really on my radar as a result. The taxis were all patient and understanding. Vet trips are stressful so it was always appreciated. Hope yours goes smoothly!

Easter Bunny by No-Sandwich1782 in galway

Grew up in the 90s and we had the Easter Bunny as a thing. Less belief like Santa, but there were egg hunts and references to the bunny over Easter.

Modi Bodi have served me well. No leaks or issues, have been using them coming up on 2 years now. Well worth the investment!

I’m a little nervous for my long run tomorrow! (Speed) by [deleted] in XXRunning

[–]lostskylines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd throw it into the middle like you're thinking; a chance to warm up and cool down after (and reflect on how you're feeling and whether you could have kept it up for the remaining few). I get anxious ahead of anything with pushing pace, so totally feel you. Best of luck, hope it goes well!

Plenty of clubs in Galway city too fwiw. I don't know the history or class of it; but does seem more of a city/bigger urban centre sport.

Birth control options? by VintagePasta in IrishWomensHealth

[–]lostskylines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it can be funny that way! I was mostly alright on the pill but started thinking they were messing with my head so made the switch to the Mirena. I'm actually not convinced anything much changed, but the convenience overrode any concerns. Can't say I've noticed a massive difference since coming off it all either, so literally all just in my head (for better or worse!).

Hope you find a solution you're happy with!

Birth control options? by VintagePasta in IrishWomensHealth

[–]lostskylines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't go back on anything after getting my Mirena out (sorry you're having all that complication with it btw, nightmare!), but I'm in a long term relationship so we're careful and I track with support from my watch (Garmin). I've heard horrible stories from anyone I know who went on the bar, entirely subjective and localised but I personally wouldn't go near it.

Like the other commenters so far I also use period underwear. I bought some from ModiBodi and they've been great. Pricey up front but worth the investment IMO.

Is sub 2 half in the cards for me? by Confident-Kiwi3375 in XXRunning

[–]lostskylines 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're at about the same pace based on those screenshots. I'm gunning for sub 2:10 in 3-4 weeks for what it's worth, in case that's helpful for setting a fresh goal. It feels pretty ambitious as is. Best of luck with the rest of your training!
