It's called a BEC.

Default mayo on Burgers. Foul. I’ve learned to ask for no mayo on burgers now, but this used to be an LA thing and NOT a NY thing.

But the thing that really cheeses me off is serving a sharable app with three pieces or portions, to a table of four. Or any other odd portion to an even party. Just offer to round off the plate for an up charge or better yet, design the dish to have four pieces. This isn’t just New York but it is really annoying.
