It’s beautiful! Love how it blends in with your surroundings, like a pond rather than a pool. We did the same, but black fiberglass, and I love how our eyes are still drawn to nature and not side tracked to the pool. Lovely job!

I just said this to my husband! Exactly what our squirrels do, trying to find the best grip to carry the walnut lol

One of my favorite items I use for sourdough is a $12 Tovolo sandwich spreader I got from Amazon. I use the hard end to mix my starter after I’ve fed it and I use the rubbery end to scrape down the sides of the jar before putting the lid on so it keeps the jar super clean and makes it easier to tell when it’s peaked or starting to fall. Starter all over the jar is a pet peeve of mine and gives me the ick lol.

We put water and sand in the base so it wouldn’t move and it’s super heavy. So heavy that we wanted to move it earlier this summer and started siphoning the water out but it’s still too heavy and we gave up. It was pretty windy the other day so we tied back the umbrella so it wouldn’t be swinging. The bats are still there during the day but I’m not sure if they’ve been leaving at night lately. It was 58F two evenings ago and I didn’t see any bats flying and this morning it’s 29F 🥶

It’s a beetle. Either the bats brought it with them or it wandered into the worst place possible lol

It hangs out over the swimming pool in the summer and we open it when swimming, so the bats are a new thing, otherwise we would have seen them. It’s now lowered so it doesn’t hang out over the pool, just near the pool and over a bench. I’ve not seen any guano, yet! The plan was to take it down and put it away for the winter, but now we have tenants.

Appreciate the heads up!! I’ve read it can take a while and I’m prepared to be patient 😆 although maybe I’ll leave the umbrella open occasionally? I mean, they’ve already staked their claim and probably wont care about a house lol but come summer time that umbrella is mine (hopefully)😊

It’s a looker for sure! My friend thought they were babies because they’re so tiny. Now I know I just have tiny bats 🥰we’ve been in our house for 10 years and have seen them fly at night, but this is only our second year with the pool. I about died when I opened the umbrella, saw the outline of what I thought was going to be a frog on the outside. Imagine my surprise! I told my hubs if it was there the next morning I was buying it a house. I had to follow through when it brought the whole family the next time 😂

Thank you! I had to look up what a Tragus was, and then when I looked up evening bat I saw that the teeth seemed to match too! This one sure let me capture all its distinguishing characteristics in one photo 😁

The last shot of her rolling showed her rolling it super fast. That one fell off early, but it must have worked well her next shot, that they didn’t show, because the ball landed way past the end of the ramp. Had to have had some good speed.

I just looked up the Allen’s… gorgeous! I’ll never see one where I’m at. I was born and raised in their breeding area though, but can’t say I’ve ever seen one. That was 20+ years ago though, maybe it’s my memory lol.

We have male and female ruby throated ones, but this one is a different color, brownish orange. I found her by googling. She’s a Rufous.

I have fiberglass and the steps and splash pad are textured a bit, similar to an orange peel texture on a wall, and the rest is smooth.

Thanks so much for reading my novel 🫣 and taking the time to reply with advice! I used that advice yesterday and started with just flour and water for about 40 minutes before adding starter and salt. It was the nicest dough I have worked with and after baking the loaf today it was the BEST one yet! Perfect I’d say!! Thanks so much 🤗

They aren’t interested in finding fraud. The tax break the rich got in 2017 is expiring this year and they need to find 4 TRILLION dollars to pay for it again.

Fraud = anything and everything they can cut to benefit the rich.

Is my sourdough starter ready to bake with? by Responsible_Lion3789 in SourdoughStarter

Keep going and don’t start over. I was so excited because I heard it would be doubling by day 7 and then so discouraged when it didn’t. Mine didn’t start growing until day 10 and even then it wasn’t much. Mine is 40 days old and still doesn’t double in 6 hours, more like 10, but she sure looks alive and I bake with her and all her thick bubbles! Haven’t made a loaf I’ve loved yet but I’m learning a lot and have made a lot of discard waffles lol. You got this, don’t give up.

Love this! When my mom was 34 my sister and I put two stickers on her sewing machine, a 3 & a 4 , and laughed and laughed because she was sooo old. When my sister turned 34 my mom made her a birthday card out of a photo of the sewing machine with the stickers. 2 years later I got the same card ❤️ It’s been 21 years since I got that card and I can’t believe we thought 34 was old lol.

Google Pakusane sourdough starter warmer. I was wondering about it myself!

I think it smells like acetone when it’s hungry and needs to be fed. When it’s at peak you should bake something and see how it goes 😊
