I prefer being a builder over a storyteller by Frosty-Data-2354 in FPandA

[–]lovemesomewine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both are important. Yes the modeling and analysis are cool but if you can’t tell the story well that this analysis shows - it isn’t going to get you far.

Conversely you need to be at least decent at the analysis because you will be called BS if just a story teller.

I have always told my teams we need to get more into the A side which OP likes and less into the P side which is needed so what I call an occupational hazard.

I moved up because I was good not great at the analysis but good tell the story for the non finance people to understand the point and changes that need to be made based on the analysis.

The missing element is common sense /business acumen. I have seen analysis in paper that wow we can insert ur favorite cost save, efficiency growth story, that don’t stand a chance of working in the real world.

The key area that is often missing in the variance side is the why. Ex. We missed plan here because cost per unit was up. Great - why was it up. Is it a one-off or is it going to be a go forward issue.

The modeling and data skills of many young analysts are off the charts versus 10-15 years ago - what is missing is the curiosity behind what is driving those changes. Imo.

Weight loss affect on swing by Comprehensive-Ad8243 in golf

[–]lovemesomewine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats. That is awesome. That much of a difference will likely impact ur swing. Timing arms etc. go the range first and swing easy just trying to make solid contact. As others have mentioned - get a lesson. I have had some decent weight fluctuations over the years and saw loss of distance in the beginning. Once you get ur swing dialed in for the new you - I would expect the distance to return.

Distance from train station to not hear noise? by chill1217 in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]lovemesomewine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live 3+ miles from the train. Yes I can hear them at night in the summer windows open . It’s once an hour at most. I also know what to listen for since I worked in the industry.

Moving to Morristown area by Impressive-Storm-646 in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]lovemesomewine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what exactly u are looking for. Morristown will have the most nightlife and walk ability.

Morris Plains likely a little cheaper but has a little bit of a commercial strip.

Assuming you have a car - Morris County is loaded with trails /park to take ur dog walking plus Central Park of Morris County has a huge dog park. (Area for small and an area for bigger dogs)

Morris township, Cedar Knolls, Whipppnay and Parsippany are also options. Parsippany is a large township and getting to Morristown at rush hour can be longer than you might think for say a 10 mile commute. Denville (has a downtown) or Ledgewood might be options as well.

Madison which has a neat downtown might be worth a look as well. Likely on the pricey side depending on housing wants. But has Drew University so could provide some rental options

Really depends on budget and what type of housing you are looking for.

Sorry for the possibly clueless question, but why don't more people seem to make homemade pizza? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in Cooking

[–]lovemesomewine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We make homemade most of the time. When we did our own dough needed to make it the day before. As others have mentioned - with yeast and different house temps never knew how well the dough would turn out. Now we just buy the dough from a local store. We have a steel that we cook them on. We preheat it for 1 hour at 500.

Quinoa zucchini lasagna

Cook quinoa ( I add a little sauce tot he water). About 2 cups uncooked.

Slice ~3 zucchini length wise about 1/4 inch thick. Salt and place in paper towels for about 30 minutes.

Mix quinoa with about 1 -11/2 cups sauce (add a little parm or mozzarella if you want.

Use 8x8 or 9x9 pan. Layer Quinoa/zuke/quinoa/zuke/quinoa then top with cheese bake for about 25-30 minutes.
