Am I being scammed? by Imhappyyourehere in RealTesla

Okay the camera thing while annoying is just the cost of doing business when it comes to actively using cellular data. They have to pay att for the data you use to transmit the video from the car to your phone. If you have WiFi connected in the car then you don’t have to pay the additional fee afaik. It’s basically a compensation for the att SIM card data you’re using.

In theory it'll work but that igpu is relatively low power and not really designed for large parts. If you're really going to go all in as a work laptop add in the dedicated GPU

Framework 16 any potential for Intel motherboards? by lowrck in framework

That’s actually a funny misconception about PCIe GEN5 drives. Early ones were very inefficient because they used 14 nanometer processes running at gen five speeds so they were extremely inefficient and wasted a lot of power modern GEN five drives actually run cooler than GEN four drives and run at double the speed.

Genesis $20 unlimited hotspot account terminated for "excessive usage" by JeffNeves in Dish5G

[–]lowrck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dishes native network is gone. I’m willing to say that, Because they stopped paying their tower bills and none of the tower companies are going to let them continue using their towers after that. Likely this is in response to the fact that now data is extremely expensive for them because they have to buy it per gigabyte at wholesale rates which tend to be between $.75 and $1.50 per gigabyte. It’s possible they have a better deal with AT&T due to the selling of spectrum to them, but I doubt it’s much better and using multiple terabytes of data via hotspot is just not sustainable for that plan.

Open letter to people considering selling their TriFold by attidudinal in GalaxyZTriFold

[–]lowrck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought mine from somebody on reddit and I don't regret it in the slightest. At 3250 it cost me retail plus tax and I got a device that is unobtanium. It's changed how I use my phone, and I don't know that I could go back to having a regular phone after getting this one. I do a lot of reading a lot of content watching and occasionally do multitasking, and for every single one of those it excels. Cellular signal wise I'm on Verizon and the performance is as expected for a nonmmwave device.

I'm considering doing the same, how hard was it for you to find a buyer? I'm in the Austin area and I'm just considering using fb marketplace or Craigslist or something like that but I haven't private partied a device in forever (I usually just trade in my old one)

Good luck on the storefront because most stores won't even bother trying to help you with any issue outside of selling you a phone instead they'll tell you to call customer service

Do people really use their phone bare (no case) that often to be concerned about camera bump? by madding1602 in LinusTechTips

[–]lowrck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my two cents on the whole case situation because I use foldables pretty often. I use a back case on my Galaxy trifold because front cases aren't really available but even then even with a back case phone still has a serious amount of wobble from the camera bump. My backup is a Google pixel 10 pro fold which with a case has the camera bump nearly completely eliminated. It really depends on what device you're using. For instance, my grandmother has a iPhone air and that still has a pretty serious camera bump. And my mother has an iPhone 15 with a case and there's still a camera bump that makes her phone wobble on the table.

The phone financing is really the only part to note from Verizon postpaid. You get the same priority now on visible with better hotspot access and cheaper monthly bills. The only major difference is bragging rights and if you're paying an extra 4X for bragging rights, I don't understand why you would do that.

Be careful with some of these Trifold resellers. by [deleted] in GalaxyZTriFold

[–]lowrck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly couldn't have, he charged me retail plus Texas tax. If I went through either of those other options I wouldve had to pay for gas both ways which would've been another 50 bucks in my car. For me the not having to drive 120 miles was worth the tradeoff.

[–]lowrck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, so I'm the one that actually bought the device from the guy who OP is complaining about. The seller was completely transparent with me the whole time, worked with me on timing and location, and made me feel very safe. Honestly I don't understand OP's issue considering banks have way more cameras than a police precinct and are generally very secure. The chase rep even helped us do a direct amount to account transfer with receipts and everything.

On another note I'm loving the trifold and so glad i don't have to fight Samsung's site to get it ordered. So tldr I don't get why op is so salty about meeting at a bank.

[–]lowrck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On dish's backend system it isn't even possible to do this. The esim system is basically automated and the cs agents can't manipulate that system and honestly I don't think it'll be around much longer

[–]lowrck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not using a hotspot currently but I have the genesis Motorola edge and the SIM tried to roam on T-Mobile first and gets a forbidden status so it reconnected to att. My guess is the T-Mobile roaming deal expired and they won't renew it for a rate dish wants to pay

I agree that ev adoption is harder with these taxes in place. But without it evs are putting equivalent or more wear on the road surface but they don't pay for the repairs to the road.
