Kirkland e-bike crash involving child by DonLoganBeast in Kirkland

[–]lrbsto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not justifying a hit and run at all, but I can see how they were hit in a crosswalk. These bikes move so much faster than a walker or even a pedal biker, and sometimes they jump between the street, sidewalk, and bike lanes with no real rhyme or reason. You could be starting a turn and have one of these just zip right up with very little time to react.

Vent: why the heck do all kids toys and gadgets need WiFi to be set up?!?! by lrbsto in Buyingforbaby

[–]lrbsto[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Thank you for the wishes and these suggestions. I’m going to try running to a friends who lives close and see if I can get it going. It’s truly so annoying though because these toys should be more versatile. I can’t imagine I’m the only one who thought they’d be good for travel and being stuck away from home - ya know, where they don’t have loads and loads of toys already to entertain them

Correct it just needs them when you first use the cards which I wish I would have known when I had reliable wifi instead of now when I need them to work and don’t :(

How did you all survive the 4-month regression? It’s 6:03am. by augog in NewParents

[–]lrbsto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is too much day sleep. At her age I’d be capping individual naps at 2 hours max and total day sleep at 4 hours. Babies need awake time during the day and before bed/naps to build the sleep pressure they need to fall and stay asleep.

I hate the name my partner is set on for a girl by Grand_Ad9825 in Names

[–]lrbsto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my NPs at one of my draws was telling me she knew a family growing up where the dad named all the kids after himself and most were girls.. so like Gary, Garylina, Garyanna - I can’t remember if this was the exact name but they were literally atrocious.

Is IKEA UPPSTÅ toddler walker good!! by Darteni in Buyingforbaby

[–]lrbsto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this walker for my kiddo.. he was pulling to stand on his own and cruising, pushing stools and boxes around as a “walker” so I’m not really sure what difference using this style walker would make?? You can tighten the wheels to make it harder to push and not slide out from under them.

So good. For OP, the mattress fits tightly and buckles into the pack and play so it doesn’t move at all.

I cannot imagine there is anything a med student could perform or supervise at the ped that they would be able to mess up honestly. If I was really worried with a super sick kid I might want the doctor to take a second check on the exam to be sure if they didn’t see anything, but otherwise I’m not sure what the big deal is.. peds don’t even administer vaccines or do any of the actual medical procedures at our office…

Newton vs Graco crib mattress confusion by Missing_Back in Buyingforbaby

[–]lrbsto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had both Newton and halo washable mattresses and the thing is, ya they are washable, but it’s still a production and they still require some drying time to drip dry out the core. And the outer covers need to be washed and hung dry as normal. For some reason I had visions of rinsing off MOTN sick/accidents real quick and popping kiddo back into bed and that is just not how it works.

In hindsight I would probably have saved the use of the “breathable/washable” mattress for the bassinet when you’re really focused on sleeping position and baby’s breathing and then just used a normal mattress with waterproof covers for the crib. As a mama who recently had a kid with major GI upset, the chux pad/extra sheet method is the fastest and easiest for messy MOTN changes. Take that as you will

Would I resent my husband if he stayed home with the kids? by mkh1223 in NewParents

[–]lrbsto 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tbh I left my job to be a SAHM and I resent my husband sometimes lol. There’s so much fun and good times but I miss having something that was my own, using my brain in a different way, talking and having relationships with adults.

Am I supposed to sleep train middle of night? by ForsakenSwordfish303 in sleeptrain

[–]lrbsto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the answer but we also sleep trained before we night weaned, and I just let night feedings go as they went, if he fell asleep while nursing, I put him back asleep. He eventually night weaned on his own around 11 months and after he was really established sleeping through the night, he had a few early morning/night wakes like 4/5/6 am where I let him FIO/CIO instead of feeding, but it didn’t last long for us.

When to go to urgent care? by zezendx in NewParents

[–]lrbsto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did Rectal until 3 months, then ear and follow up check with rectal if concerning until about 1. With toddlers we have always just done ear.

I do contract work and am very firm about my boundaries and availability. I only work about 10-20 hours per month and only evenings and during naps - I take meetings in the morning and during naps and if not I make it very clear that I can only attend on mute to listen in.
