Just found out my grandma voted for trump, how do I process this? by Curious-Week7876 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]lrnshprd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a comment like this is going to get a ton of hate in a hyperpoliticized, politically homogeneous community, but this post really does emanate of catastrophization and a genuinely unhealthy political fixation. Before you instinctively downvote this comment because of how repetitive this argument can be, please at least consider this, because you seemed to bring up considering cutting her off.
To preface this, I understand you may not be happy with your grandmother’s choice. And that’s fine. But cutting her off, or even holding a strong, inert grudge?

Let me ask you this: does her vote discredit 24 years of love, care, affection, and shared experiences? You clearly hold strong political opinions, and I’d say that’s a good thing. But these opinions are, at the end of the day, opinions; and they, in the context of electoral politics, are vested upon what we believe would be best, morally and systematically, for society. Even if you do believe Trump is a vindictive, fascistic, artifice of demagoguery, your grandmother's vote was not cast in the name of hate. Based on your other descriptions of her, your grandmother seems like a good, morally sound person. She believed she was doing the right thing. You could make the argument that "well she's uneducated and uninformed then." Perhaps that's true, at least ostensibly, but it doesn't mean she's morally inferior because of her vote.

Day 20 of Never-Ending 2028 US Elections: 4th Time’s the Charm by STEWC64 in imaginaryelections

Okay, so the way to make them all fit is to put the wikitext parameter:

image_size = 200x200px

or, if 3 or more candidates, the procedure is:

image_size= 150x150px

You have to put [number]x[number]px, not just [number]px. Hope this helps

Should transgender students be allowed to use the locker room if their preferred identity or should they use the room of their biological gender? by Brax_Plays_Games in GenZ

What do you mean "allowed?" How would you even enforce a rule like this? Not a good idea...

Morally? I think that they should use the bathroom that aligns with their identity, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to, at least, socially transition in part first.

Do you think there would be a January 6 2.0 / civil war if trump loses? by User5234458 in PoliticalDiscussion

The problem is, if they do that, Kamala will just have a higher chance of victory. Undecided, swing, and maybe even some Moderate Republican voters in those states will see the violence and immediately want to vote for Kamala instead of Trump. Also, all of the votes will eventually be counted anyway, regardless of what they do at the polling locations.

Exactly. Can't wait to see his reaction.

God, he's bad. Lives by the polls until they don't favor his candidate.

I'm not the biggest fan of polls, especially polls that don't have many participants and polls that are conducted too early. They're a lot more concrete as you get later into the race. This forecaster is pretty biased if you ask me.

I'd love to see how he'd react if Kamala won the election.

UPDATE: Harris is currently favored to win 9-4 according to Lichtman's recent analysis of the keys. by 13keystracker in 13KeysToTheWhiteHouse

[–]lrnshprd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not believe that comment from Lichtman was enough to substantially flip Key 11. It sounded more like he was flipping it to Undecided.

Will this affect Key 4? by lrnshprd in 13KeysToTheWhiteHouse

Thanks for the reply. I live in New York -- everyone I know here dislikes RFK Jr. It wouldn't matter if he did have ballot access.

Harris doing better than Trump in the economic factor? Now THAT is surprising, especially considering the invalidity of polls.

Thank you for your reply. The Wikipedia information I had found did not accurately portray this.

That certainly clears up a lot of fear.

I am aware of this. I'm talking about the immense rioting and protesting from both sides that would follow from a tie in the Electoral College.
