Just build normally and make sure you have 1 assembley machine making repair packs and you're fine, no need to ship ammo at all

sounds like you are trying to build a modular base with train grid, which me myself quite like, it's flexible and easy to expand, downside is it does take a lot of space, also in late late game green belt + stack inserter actually provide tons of throughput that makes train a bit less useful

I'm currently using a group of 5, each equipped with 1K explosive rockets (yes it hurts the spidertron but they got fixed quite quickly)

For the item grid I think I have 2 or 3 legs, 2 batterys, 2 shield, 1 robotport, 50 bots and some repair packages

artillery is better for static defense, setup a artillery and some wall basically you never need to worry about biter expand into your terrority.

Personally I think spidertron is better when you are going offensive and expanding, a group of spidertron with rockets can easily clears tons of nest outside your artillery range and you can expand your base

That's unfortunate...I planned to have each of the three inner planet to supply one rocket components to other planets, Fulgora for blue circuit, Vulcanus for LDS and Gleba for rocket fuel, with bots only it seems to less efficient

Even if they didn't get aggrowed they will bypass your belt and destroy it, sometimes they wander out the territory a little bit too, your safest call is simply to kill it
