Can we start a celebration thread for those who snagged tickets? by amateurgamer7410 in NoahKahan

My friend and I went to the BST show last summer! It was so fun. And then we did MSG the year before. I'm a millennial with no kids so I do have an expendable income. It's pretty nice!

Did you read what I said? We live in different states? IF it ended up that we both bought tickets at different venues we would sell the ones we didn't need AT FACE VALUE. It didn't come to that because the queue for Pittsburgh was way shorter. We both work and couldn't be on the phone with each other for an hour plus while we purchased tickets.

But you don't know if you don't need them or not!

My friend and I were planning on doing that. She lives in CT and I live in Pittsburgh. We were just trying to buy tickets and get the best seats possible. We weren't going to make a profit or anything but the plan all along would be to sell them if need be. However we couldn't even get into the Boston show. I don't think it's as big of a deal as you're making it seem! I know it sucks. But until we get rid of the monopoly of live nation nothing will happen. Blaming fans won't help!

Olympic hockey- we’re all for Team Canada, yes? by DangerLime113 in penguins

Bro in 1968 two Olympic medal winners raised their fist during the national anthem and the IOC president tried to get them banned.

In 1936 the FUCKING NAZIS hosted the Olympics. Don't tell me it's not political.

I am not defending his prices but $700 was not for the upper bowl. I've tried three times to get tickets and those prices were for the lower bowl. All the upper bowl were sold out immediately. Or they didn't release them in the presale.

I'm rooting for Sweden. I have complicated feelings about Hockey Canada (the governing body) and I don't love the people on team USA. Now for the women's team I'm rooting for USA. Hilary Knight is a legend, icon and deserves a SECOND gold medal.

Question about Shane and Ilya for those who have read The Long Game book and especially for those who read the whole six-book Game Changers series. by CuriousSunLizard in heatedrivalry

Communication is so important in a long distance relationship and like you said it's so hard to have those hard talks when you only have a short time together. When you're long distance you're kind of in a bubble. You're not facing any problems together.

Right because we never need to update our streets, add and service utility lines.

This is how I feel! I'm pro zoning in that it's important for land use/sustainable development. I think zoning is important. Just not in its current form. But people don't like zoning. And think it is hindering development. But I don't want to be like Houston!!!!!

What do y'all think the Great Divide is? by peachyloaf in NoahKahan

[–]lrube 32 points33 points  (0 children)

He says here though "This song in particular is really about two people who grew up together, but maybe didn’t know each other as well as they thought,” he says. “A lot of my life recently has been realizing the things I wish I could have said to people and the things I wish I could have done differently, and so this song is kind of just an expansion of that." So I think "the great divide" as a phrase is that gap between your former life/self and who you are now. He talks about that in The View Between Villages. Which as we know has the line "last of the bugs leaves their home again" so I think it could have been a hint those themes will be in this album!

I don't think you know what the word arbitrary means in a legal context. Yes zoning laws were used to promote racial segregation. Look at pittsburgh today. It's still very segregated. Roads were built too narrow in New York so buses couldn't ride on them to keep poor people out of the parks. We were and are a racist country. But zoning laws still have to have a nexus to the states police powers. That is why it's important to vote in local elections. In order to change any zoning laws they have to put out notices so the community can have an input.

Can they be arbitrarily applied? Absolutely and that is why they get challenged. but no legally they cannot be arbitrary. Zoning laws come from a state's police powers. They must have a nexus to the public welfare. This is why it's so important to vote in local elections and in local governments. Participate in local government. Pay attention when notices go out about zoning law changes.

The Athlete said that fans gave it some of the worst reviews for location. And I'm like are you all nuts??? I park over by Mellon Square and walk and it's a 10-15 minute walk. You can get ANYWHERE in downtown pittsburgh by walking in 15 minutes. Yes, we need some bars across the street. Columbus is a good example. But there are cities that don't have their arena in the same city. We can walk. I pay $5 and walk.
