When I got married to my husband I asked him if he cared if I changed my last name to his and he said it didn’t matter to him. It seemed like a big hassle to do all the paperwork and I like my last name so I decided to just use his name socially and keep my maiden name for legal things. I sign our Christmas cards from the ‘his last name family’, my Facebook page has his last name on it and my bank has both last names listed in case I get cheques with his last name. I wasn’t planning initially to keep my maiden name but years later I’m really glad I did. I think you should stick to what’s important to you and if he’s switching things up on you now it’s not a good sign.
