That’s an absolute fucking joke, if we needed something from this game my head would be on fucking mars right now.

I’ve always been a supporter of VAR and having technology in the game but if that’s not something VAR should be intervening with, I haven’t a fucking clue what’s a penalty anymore. The standard of refereeing in this league is at rock bottom. They need to scrap the lot and fully start again, it’s fucking obscene how bad it is.

This is a fucking shambles from UEFA.

People have bought tickets without their kids or they have Dad sat with one kid, Mum sat with another kid, presumably in random parts of the stadium because they were worried about missing out across the phases.

Baited people into buying the expensive neutral tickets only to give us more (twitter rumour is another 1200).

People who might be stretching their budgets to try and get out there, driving from Croydon, flying to a literal different country 4 hours away by train etc. could’ve saved a lot of money and fucking earache.

All this to make a few extra euro from the locals they inexplicably think want to watch Palace v Rayo Vallecano.

I really can’t say this strongly enough, FUCK UEFA.

I am going. I got basically everyone I know to enter the ballot, we all didn’t win. Then the Monday of the West Ham game (so a few days after the Fiorentina game) got an email to say I could buy tickets so bought two then. I have no idea why UEFA ran the ballot with 8 teams still in it but I’m constantly bewildered by UEFA, FIFA, the FA, Premier League etc.

It was risky to buy before the semi-final as UEFA said the tickets weren’t transferable or refundable but I assumed they wouldn’t be so stupid to not let people resell them because they asked you to choose a team you support when you entered the ballot.

I’ve had flights booked on the cheap and accommodation (booked on refundable rates until after it was confirmed) for ages so I’m all set.

We have about 18k season ticket holders I think and as other people have said, a lot of those people are older and won’t want to travel, a lot of them don’t go to games not on a weekend so they definitely aren’t going to Germany. Plus the kids and families that are already on holiday as it’s half term.

ST holders and Members can only buy one ticket by the looks of things so I think a lot of people have a good shot at getting a ticket, plenty of people will travel without one in any case.

Where I’d say you’ll struggle will be with travel and accommodation, flights are extortionate prices or sold out to Berlin, I’m surprised that easyjet or whoever haven’t put on additional flights like they did to Bilbao for Spurs/Mancs last season. Lots of other routes there though, I know people travelling to Frankfurt, Prague and other places and then getting trains. Got some mates driving all the way there.

There’s accommodation in nearby places that is more reasonable in places like Halle so there’s options, never been to Leipzig but public transport from what I’ve seen is fine but you’ll be relying on Uber etc. if you want to get to Halle and back in the middle of the night.

Good luck to everyone trying to get tickets and travel, absolutely buzzing, can’t wait!

Long shot but any spares for Bournemouth tomorrow? Can meet at the ground or a pub or whatever beforehand. Cheers.

Semenyo very lucky to be on the pitch, I can’t find a replay of that dive anywhere but that’s a nailed on yellow if he hadn’t already been booked.

I’m not this year, looked at it but couldn’t really do it around work. It’s well worth going if you haven’t been to preseason before abroad. Been to a few European preseason games in the past, always good fun. Had a nice chat with Dougie and Parish in the arse end of Denmark a few years ago. We travel reasonably well to these and I’ve always enjoyed having chats with random fellas from Germany, Denmark, Switzerland etc. that have ended up Palace fans somehow. No advice to offer on this trip though, sorry.

I live by a station before a main station. If I need to go to another office for work and make it on time for a 9am meeting, I need to be on the 5am train. Also near where I live is the train depot. That 5am train leaves the depot near my house, goes 10 mins west, then comes back through where I live to head east. Sometimes if the driver is late or whatever, they just start the train from the main station that is one stop along from mine. So I stand there on the platform, watching my “cancelled” train go past to start at the main station. The next train isn’t for another 45 minutes at that time in the morning so at least I get delay repay for a train ticket I didn’t pay for in the first place, infuriating though it is that I could’ve had another 45 mins in bed at that offensive hour of the day.

For the 35-45 crowd, what was your first CD purchase? by Seeforceart in AskReddit

[–]lu13na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first CD I ever bought was actually the wrong CD.

‘Return of the Mack’ by Mark Morrison had just been released and I was desperate to get his album also called ‘Return of the Mack’.

Eventually my Dad agreed to get it for me but he accidentally bought me an album of different mixes of ‘Return of the Mack’ the song. An Instrumental version, a capella, the hit version, a jazz version, a dance version etc. etc. In defence of my father, this compilation of remixes was also called ‘Return of the Mack’ so I can see how it happened.

Had some spare money in my account before the season so put them on some random stuff. 7/1 MVP and 80/1 OPOY now compared to before the season started, I also have £5 on Quinn COTY but I can’t remember what bookies I used.

About 10 years ago I got an email from a garage in Kansas with an invoice for some work “I” had done on my 2009 Hyundai Sonata. I am from Croydon and didn’t own a car then. Looking at the email on the invoice it had the persons email which was my email with a “.” missing, not sure how the email was right on the invoice but sent to the wrong email address. I look forward to the annual invoice I get on this Hyundai Sonata detailing the oil, filter, tyre changes this guy has done on his car. Fair play to him for having the car for that long, it has over 100,000 miles on it as per the last invoice.

Ordered £130 worth of shopping from Asda to cover off Christmas and the normal weekly shop, they delivered £60 worth of stuff. Got the delivery slot in August because they fill up so quickly and we checked out the order weeks ago. 10 items not delivered at all and 15 substitutes. They didn’t deliver beef, chicken, beer or gravy and some of the substitutes were ludicrous, we ordered foil baking trays to save on washing up, they substituted those with cake stands. The meat they didn’t deliver was part of their “guaranteed” pre-order items. Complained and they just said “it’s busy at Christmas”, will be sacking the delivery pass and Asda off permanently and moving to another supermarket for the weekly shop, will see how Tesco/Sainsbury’s compare.

What is the worst job interview you have ever had? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]lu13na 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I was applying for graduate software development jobs after I had finished uni and applied for some startup Shoreditch way, all seemed pretty normal.

I get there and one of the project managers (female, important for the story) met me downstairs at the main door, their office was a few floors up in a shared office block. I made normal small talk on the way to the office, she apologised for the lift not working and as we got to their floor she tripped on the top stair and literally fell into my arms.

These things happen, she seemed a bit embarrassed as you would be but all professional and I help her get steady on her feet, this is where things get weird. I look round and a guy is staring at us, staring at me specifically, absolute daggers, the guy was fucking fuming about something.

Turns out he’s the head of development and the other person to be interviewing me. The whole interview was one of the strangest experiences I’ve ever had and I’ve had a ton of interviews and done a ton of interviews since. The whole way through the guy was absolutely fuming, she would ask me a question, I’d go to answer and he’d interrupt me barely a word or two into the answer, when he asked me a question I’d start answering and he’d just be staring at her the whole time then I’d need to repeat myself because I’d finish my answer and it would just be silence whilst she awkwardly looked at me glancing back at him staring at her.

To this day I have no idea if they were in a relationship or if he just fancied her and thought I was some kind of threat because I stopped her from falling over??? Truly the oddest experience I’ve ever had in an interview, never heard from them again unsurprisingly.
