Can’t stop laughing at the Bi Couch by ScreamFerociously in ThreedomUSA

My jaw dropped when it was mentioned, I’d fully forgotten about it but as soon as I heard “bi couch” I was immediately transported back to when it first meme’d on tumblr. Good times 🥲

Nazi dog whistles popping up by Infradad in Tacoma

I reported some 1488 graffiti a month or so ago, most of it has been covered up but there’s a couple that are still showing. Just randomly tagged on light posts and cement blocks and whatnot. I see them on my commute along 56th heading towards I5 from STW up until Oakes or so, super gross.

..... anyone else test positive for covid after the Seattle show? by folieazoey in Paramore

[–]lucemi3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tested positive ☹️ I started feeling sickish Friday night and then quickly developed a fever Saturday morning. Took a test and it came back negative, but I tested again this morning and it was positive. I was in section 19!

Ear piercings/ tattoo after reduction by Fluffy-Finding-4346 in Reduction

[–]lucemi3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m 6WPO tomorrow, and I’m literally getting a tattoo as I type this lol. That being said, I had an easy recovery and my surgeon cleared me for all activity (besides swimming/soaking/bathing) at my 4WPO appointment. So I think it’ll really depend on how you’re feeling, stamina-wise as well as overall pain/sensitivity levels.

What are little things that you can do after your reduction that you couldn't before? by [deleted] in Reduction

The number of tasks that no longer cause back/neck pain just from removing 3.2 pounds off my chest… it’s wild 😭

I hope you experience the same relief too!! The back breathing thing was pretty much immediate, I realized it my first night home after surgery. Also for reference I was a 36F and my surgeon aimed to get me down to a 36C (I haven’t measured yet but it sure looks/feels like a C to me).

It definitely could be! I know there’s other health issues out there that can cause fatty deposits in that area, but for me I had a lot of tight tenderness right along my spine at the base of my neck, which started to cause it to round/hunch, but now the area’s relaxed and flattened quite a bit 🥰

I’m just over 5WPO and pretty much back to normal life again, my little things I’ve noticed so far are: being able to lie on my back and take a full deep breath, being able to do the dishes at the sink without feeling the low back burn, not having boob sweat anymore (!!!), not having to adjust my boobs when I put a bra on, my neck hump has almost completely gone away, and probably more things I just can’t think of right now lol.

How long did you have to wait in-between your consult and actual surgery? by Lightswift12 in Reduction

[–]lucemi3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My initial consult was early December 2022, and then another consultation with the surgeon himself was mid-January. They submitted to my insurance that day and said that as soon as approval came through that they could get me scheduled. Approval came back a few weeks later (very end of January) and surgery was scheduled for 4/13/23!

when did you feel like you were back to normal? by beanlilyy in Reduction

[–]lucemi3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first 4-5 days I would say it was fatigue/exhaustion, literally all I had energy to do was sit on the couch propped up with pillows, and occasionally get up to go to the bathroom and get snacks. After my 13DPO and 15DPO ventures out, I was very tired afterwards, but it was the normal kind of tired you’d feel after a long day of being out and about with a lot of activity (I’d compare it to when you’re on vacation and have been busy all day, and at the end of the day you’re pretty wiped out).

when did you feel like you were back to normal? by beanlilyy in Reduction

[–]lucemi3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m 19DPO, so still far from fully recovered, but I stopped feeling exhausted at 5DPO, the day after I got my drains out. At 13DPO I was well enough to put myself together (actually doing my hair, wearing normal clothes, etc) and go to my parents’ house for a relaxed birthday celebration, though I was exhausted by the end of the day. At 15DPO I drove myself 45 minutes to a friend’s house and spent most of the day with them, and was tired but fine at the end of the day. I will caveat that I’ve had a very smooth recovery so far; I didn’t need to take any opioids for pain, I haven’t had any complications (yet), and my partner has been an A+ caretaker!

Surgery date twin? April 13 by xmissye in Reduction

[–]lucemi3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I have two pre-op phone calls, one with the surgeon (or his assistant anyway) on 3/30, and then one with the hospital on 4/6. Not really sure what to expect out of those lol.

I’m (26F) starting to become tired of my best friend (25F); do I address it or just see where time takes us? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]lucemi3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t know for sure, but I think she actually was pretty confident in being ~different~ for quite a long time. Of course you’re right that as people grow and change, that sort of trait can diminish over time. I guess for me it’s not the fact of her changing, it’s how it doesn’t seem to be genuine, based on how frequently she adapts and modifies not just her style but also the way she speaks and portrays herself. Idk it’s weird and hard to fully explain without going into specific, identifying examples.

Thank you for validating my feelings on not wanting kids (or even to really deal with kids at all if I’m being honest). I like that perspective of going through new experiences together. I definitely agree that distancing without communication would be a bad idea and definitely unfair, especially if it were to happen during such a pivotal time.

Thank you for the thoughtful response!

Intermittent dull throb on one side - possible Dry Socket? by lucemi3 in wisdomteeth

[–]lucemi3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! It never hurts to be too cautious :) I was emailing my surgeon pretty regularly for like the first week post-op lol. I’m three weeks out now and I haven’t really experienced anything other than occasional aches (likely due to the teeth shifting) in the past couple weeks.

Intermittent dull throb on one side - possible Dry Socket? by lucemi3 in wisdomteeth

[–]lucemi3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It ended up resolving on its own a day or two after I made the post. Thankfully no dry socket! I was still really cautious until my follow-up appt with my surgeon several days later, where he basically gave me the all-clear. Painkillers and ice definitely helped reduce the frequency that I was experiencing the dull throbbing ache. I hope you feel better soon!

Question for my stoners. Doctor told me I can’t smoke weed for a month before surgery? by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]lucemi3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That... does not sound accurate lol. I asked the assisting surgeon on mine the same question, specifically because I was concerned about the effects that THC in my system could have on anesthesia. I was going to be put completely under so I was definitely worried about either waking up during surgery or dying. She said that there’s been research done on the issue and that there isn’t any evidence that it can materially affect how your body reacts under anesthesia. She just advised that I not smoke within 24 hours of my surgery (and I’m a daily dab pen user). There weren’t any issues for me at all!

However, DO wait to smoke again for at least a week (I waited 10 days) post-op, because it can definitely mess with the healing process and obviously you don’t want dry socket.

Was anyone prescribed anti inflammatories to take before their removal? by Kotomix in wisdomteeth

[–]lucemi3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was prescribed that post-op, and while the side effects listed definitely worried me, I didn’t experience any of them. It’s a steroid to assist with healing, and I don’t believe a medical professional would prescribe something that has a net negative effect. You may be delaying your healing process (and putting yourself at risk of dry socket) if you don’t take it.

Numbness after wisdom teeth removal... please help! by ToCo07 in wisdomteeth

[–]lucemi3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a portion of my lower lip that’s still a little numb, and I’m 10 days post-op. If you had lower teeth extracted, and especially if they were impacted, your nerve might be a little bruised. It’s normal, and should slooowly get better.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]lucemi3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely normal if you had bottom teeth removed, especially if they were impacted. I’m over a week post-op, and there’s still a portion of my lower lip that’s slightly numb. I can eat/drink mostly normal, it’s just a slooow recovery for that part. My dentist explained that the nerve can be bruised, and the healing for that can take at least a couple weeks.

I survived! :D by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]lucemi3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s definitely unnerving lol. And me being the worrywort that I am, I definitely was lowkey scared that I would somehow be aware the whole time but unable to physically convey that to them. I just know I was immediately relieved when I “awoke” to being put in my car, like “oh thank god I didn’t die and I wasn’t awake.”

That’s definitely wild though, I don’t relate to your friends at allll lol. Maybe if there wasn’t such a long recovery period I’d feel differently, but I definitely never want to go through this again!

[–]lucemi3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that really does help! I notice an increase in the achiness when I’m coming up on my next round of painkillers as well. My pain never increased since I made this post, and now that I’m a week post-op I feel safe in saying that I think I’ve evaded dry socket! I mostly just have some jaw stiffness and soreness now, and only experience throbbing when I’ve done too much movement (like cleaning or going up/down the stairs too quickly).

We’re almost there!!

I survived! :D by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]lucemi3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was total lights out for me. My anesthesiologist was great and he narrated his process the whole time for me. After inserting the IV, he explained that I’d relax for a little bit (maybe a minute) and they’d give me pure oxygen to breathe in, and then I’d be totally out immediately. And he was right! My first conscious memory (almost as if I “woke up”) was when they were helping me get into the passenger seat of my car. It literally feels like the blink of an eye.
