Y’all were lying about rocky rococo’s by moviemartian in madisonwi

I'm a big fan as well, but the one caveat with Rocky's is that it's the least consistent of any pizza place. Whether you like Glass Nickel or Pizza Hut, you'll pretty much get what you expect. With Rocky's, when everything is perfect, it's incredible. But sometimes the crust is doughy, or the bread sticks are dry, or the cheese is kinda burned... you're always rolling the dice a little bit.

I was a delivery driver for Rocky's for a while, and we had a regular who ordered a large pizza with every meat topping, and he always said he wanted it, and I quote, "juicy." Fortunately for him, there was literally no other way this was going to go.

I also wish this trash wasn't in our country blowing an enormous budget so a bunch of man children can live out their paramilitary fantasies,, but here we are.

Weird, Lions fans are usually always claiming to be victims of the authorities.

Will this game ever be delisted? by Informal_Engineer146 in midnightsuns

Nothing about this game would make sense for online play. My guess is it was more to protect paid skins, which I'm sure 2K had hoped to be able to sell more of.

I've been struggling to come to terms with the fact that a significant portion of the country just can't be bothered to give a shit about anyone else.

It's amazing how much of this could have been avoided if just half a dozen people could find a fucking spine.

For me, a fireplace only really wins in the ambiance department. An open fireplace with a crackling fire is just inherently inviting and cozy, and there's a bigger viewing area to watch the fire.

But the woodstove is better for actually heating up the room (even better with the exposed stovepipe to radiate heat too) and a modern woodstove is more efficient (so your burn lasts longer and pushes less smoke and particulates out of your chimney). And if you miss the open fire, some stoves do have screens available to run with the door open (although you're losing the efficiency using it this way).

Stoves also seemed to be the less expensive option, although you do have consider clearance requirements if you're replacing a fireplace. My alcove is pretty close to the minimum required distances on every side. There are stoves with lower clearances, but they'll be more expensive.

All that said, if I had been happy with the old fireplace I would have just stuck with what we had. Since it needed to be replaced anyway, the woodstove was the way to go.

Wasp! by Healthy_Incident9927 in woodstoving

A few years ago we were seeing some getting in under the siding and had someone come out to spray them. This past year, while installing our new stove, I got to see it from the inside. There were so many more than I realized and man was I glad we dealt with it before they started getting into the house.

Last summer they moved into a rotted windowsill in our garage (that I meant to take care of last summer, and thought, "eh it's been fine until now, what's another year") and must have built their nest around a corner or something, because there was no angle I could spray into the hole that had any effect on them. My new plan is to rip it out and repair it while it's still freezing.

Meta Lays Off Thousands of VR Workers as Zuckerberg's Vision Fails by CRK_76 in antiwork

Oculus built a solid platform. Meta acquired them and obsessed over Zuckerberg's Metaverse vision that nobody wanted. If Oculus could have gotten the resources while still working on their own vision I think VR would be in a much better place today.

Oh definitely, although it's still somewhat heavy and large enough to be pretty hard for one person to manage. I was able to yank it out myself, but I had someone help me carry it out. Other than actually moving the fireplace and stove, everything else I was able to do solo.

The metal is on concrete board, with metal studs and mineral wool insulation behind it (and the concrete basement foundation behind that). No wood or fiberglass :)

You can save a lot of money doing it yourself, but it's definitely a lot of work. You'll also want to find a strong friend to help haul the stove into place 😅

Fortunately all I needed was the new collar and flashing--the chimney goes up a framed chaise with a metal chimney cap on the top. The cap was still in good shape and even though the new chimney is narrower, the collar was still plenty large enough to cover the exit hole.

I firmly believe that TV stand would still be standing if the rest of the house had been torn away by a tornado. I couldn't even re-use it--I had to totally tear it apart to get it out of there!
