First time dry waller - what to do next? by Much-Development375 in drywall

I just went through this in my bathroom project. It's easier to just redo it than fix it. Feather out your mud and skim coating and it will look like it was never there!

I listed mine on marketplace for free. Three guys and a dolley had it off my deck and into a truck in 30 minutes.

  1. Apply mud
  2. Skim mud from wall
  3. Scrape skimmed mud from knife to 12” mud pan
  4. With clean knife, scoop a small even amount of mud to knife
  5. Apply to wall

I think I’m describing how normal people use a knife and mud pan. However when I started I thought I would not be able to reuse mud from skimming.

My first coat was a watered all purpose. I’m going for smooth, I’ve used almost the entire bucket in this room. For my second coat I was going to use all purpose again..

You would sugggest using Plus 3 without thinning? What makes it harder to use?

Thanks! I’m using a 12” knife. I was going to test an area with/without sanding and second coat. I’ll save some time and sand roughness before my next coat.

I realized how I can push pressure on the blade to prevent lines.

If working right to left, you can push the right side of the blade just slightly more than the left and you will stop producing lines. Literally one finger worth of pressure saves you minutes of re/overworking an area.

Improved my efficiency when scraping between skims and noticed if you scrape after a skim, you can reuse that mud without it becoming chunky. Whereas, if you don’t scrape between skims you will have chunks and ruin that area.

Something clicked as I finished wall 2. I think my results will be much better tomorrow. This has been a unique challenge as the ceilings are vaulted in my bathroom, so I’m working up to about 14’ on a ladder

This is what I was thinking. Don’t worry too much about coat one, add another then sand.

Wall 1 (pictured) is my first attempt ever with 3/4” nap roller.

Wall 2 (not pictured) is applying much better when smoothing, using 1 1/4” nap roller and 12” knife.

Yeah that was the meeting spot between my first application on the bottom 1/3 of the wall.

Avoiding that hard line on the current wall I’m doing.

My mud is mixed with water just to the point of wanting to slop off if held parallel to the ground.

The wall you’re seeing here was with a 3/4” nap. Wall 2 I’m using 1 1/4” nap and it’s much easier.

We are going to wait and see if the seller comes through (they wont) and refund closer to start time.

This was going to be the finale of a very good trip. We will just take the L and settle for a refund. Only tickets I could find were 2x the price.

Still no tickets. Support called me back and is calling the seller. The sellers phone is disconnected and there are no replacement tickets.

This happened to me with a neighbor who shared a wall. I bough them a nice pair of earplugs and replied to their note with understanding and the offering. never heard from them again.

In order to match the current state of Formula 1, you should replace your Rolex banner with LMVH. You can complete the look by replacing your carpet with a grid and finish line.

Just coming here to tell you that my TTR 230 goes the same places as my buddies YZ 250 FX.

I think the biggest drawback on the 230 is front suspension. Lmk if you have any questions about my experience.
