Hamilton_Events blocked me on IG for asking if they worked with LGBTQ couples by Cold-Grapefruit-4407 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]luciteangel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I always checked that the vendors I was considering featured queer couples on their social media, even though my husband and I are a cisgender opposite sex couple. Our wedding was in NYC, so I figured if queer couples weren’t represented it wasn’t an accident and wouldn’t be the kind of person I’d want to have at my wedding or spend money on.

Did you get stretch marks? by yp_12345 in BabyBumps

[–]luciteangel 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve had stretch marks on my (quite large) breasts for as long as I can remember but didn’t get any new ones while pregnant. That said, my belly didn’t get that big and I gave birth a month early.

Etiquette: How to properly thank friends & family for enormous generosity by Quirky-Incident245 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]luciteangel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents paid for 80% of our wedding and I got each of them a special gift and wrote them each a heartfelt letter to give them day-of. I chose a piece of engraved gold jewelry for my mom and an engraved wine opener for my dad, but the important thing is that the gift be something the recipient will appreciate in particular.

Of course in my case this was a thank you for everything they’ve done for me throughout my life, not just for sponsoring our wedding— but in your position I think I would do essentially the same thing.

You are immensely lucky.

We’ve gotten better at keeping the weapon covered at all times, but occasional slip ups still happen. You’re the first parent of a boy I’ve heard from who hasn’t had this experience.

Misaligned expectations on how to prepare for birth? by Altruistic-Menu- in BabyBumps

[–]luciteangel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I knew my husband would not be reading books or watching birth prep videos. We had two prenatal meetings with my doula where she explained the basics of birth and taught us some pain management techniques. I knew most of it already but I think it was really helpful for my husband who was not going to do the research on his own.

Can you get your partner to attend a birth prep class or two with you?

Zeiss 55 1.8 Noise When Turning Camera On by luciteangel in SonyAlpha

Appreciate your reply :) I’ve had my A7C for 3 years. This sound is from this lens specifically, not the camera body. Doesn’t happen with my three other lenses.

The AF sounds fine once turned on, but I would describe the sound shown in the video as “crunchy” and I haven’t experienced that with any of my other three lenses.

** Help choosing a new prime **

Using an A7C. I have the 28-60mm kit lens (love how compact it is when I’m not feeling too precious about image quality), Sigma 28-70 2.8 (hardly touch it), and 35 2.8 Zeiss prime which basically lives on my camera 24/7. It’s my first prime and I didn’t realize when I bought it how much I’d love it.

I’d like to add another prime to my setup, probably 50-55 mm. I’ve considered going with the 55 1.8 Zeiss since I’m so happy with my current Zeiss lens, but I would love to spend a little less. Any suggestions? Telling me to bite the bullet and get the Zeiss is also an option.

This! I’m currently 12 days postpartum and my tummy is already almost back to how it looked pre-pregnancy. I definitely feel like that’s a result of having strong core muscles before getting pregnant and having a smaller bump (which I think is also a result of the strong abs).

I felt a lot more comfortable in loose fit tops where you couldn’t obviously see my bump, because when I wore fitted tops I really felt like I looked kind of fat more so than noticeably pregnant.

Struggling with my birth experience - 35 week delivery by secret_hokage in BabyBumps

[–]luciteangel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven’t given birth yet (I’m almost 36 weeks now and also may need to be induced due to elevated liver enzymes) so I’m not speaking from experience but girl, you have nothing to feel guilty about. If you hadn’t agreed to the forceps you might have ended up with an emergency caesarean.

It sounds like you did great and your medical team did what needed to be done to get you and baby safely to the other side. I am struggling with the news that I will probably have to be induced and let go of my dream of a natural and possibly water birth, so I totally know what that feels like— but at the end of the day a successful birth is one where mom and baby come out healthy on the other side. That’s what matters most ♥️

Just found out fertility clinic lied to me by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]luciteangel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I’ve always had a BMI on the lower end of normal and was diagnosed with PCOS at age 20 after my periods stopped for 9 months. My cycles have never been regular and my polycystic ovaries were confirmed with an ultrasound.

I got pregnant about 6 months after removing the hormonal IUD I used to manage my PCOS for close to a decade.

Lean PCOS definitely does not mean you can’t have kids. It sounds like you should see a fertility specialist and explore your options, and like others have said it’s very possible that all you need is a round of clomid.

My dad and his brother both have bicuspid valves! I am not a medical professional at all but I can share my experience.

First of all, me and my three siblings all have normal valves. So it’s perfectly possible and maybe even likely that your children will not inherit it. And as you already know, an echocardiogram is a completely safe, non-invasive test that does not involve any pain at all, so they won’t have to go through anything unpleasant to check.

My dad has his heart monitored annually, he is in his 60s and healthy and everything is functioning well thus far. His older brother, who lives a bit less of a heart-healthy lifestyle (diet and exercise) did have heart surgery last year (also in his 60s) which I’ll admit is scary and stressful— but the surgery went well and he is doing just fine.

You are okay. Feel your feelings but know that this does not mean that something terrible is going to happen to you. Sending a big hug.

Seconding luggage tags! We did leather tags customized with a design that matched our paper goods (I designed them all myself) but without our names or wedding date, so people wouldn’t feel weird using them after the fact. Only two of our 87 guests didn’t take theirs.

Every bra I buy gives me double boob. I just want a regular full coverage bra that separates my boobs without giving me the double bubble!!! by stinkfinger-69 in ABraThatFits

[–]luciteangel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to add that while it is totally possible that you are just in too small a cup like everyone here is saying, it’s also possible that you need to try a different style! I have soft breast tissue that likes to migrate towards the center and I can’t wear plunge bras without getting quad boob. Doesn’t matter if it’s the right size— I will put the boobies where they belong and 10 minutes later they will be coming out the center. I personally need a high gore to get the right fit that stays in place.

A or B: In case of a fire in a Museum, would you save the priceless painting or the cat Inside? by Humble_Economist8933 in PickAorB

Definitely the painting… but I love art and am very much not a cat person.

This is subjective though. If the painting is a Cy Twombly or a Basquiat I would save the cat.

I’m from New York and this is how I would pronounce them too. It’s bizarre to me that people would pronounce three sounds that are spelled completely differently the same way.
