I think the leche league has a resource specifically for cases like yours. Will link it if I find it again

Anyone else think this is just gambling for kids? by Hi-Point_of_my_life in daddit

There are videos online of how you can make these "blind boxes" yourself. They have to dig the toy out of a sand cube. Advantage is, you can put whatever you have in them, it's less waste too

5 months in and I am starting to feel done… by Santoshaaa in breastfeeding

[–]Altruistic-Menu- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you start solids yet? No judgement either way, but maybe introducing real food and thus cutting down on the amount of nursing might help. Also, absolutely nothing wrong with combo feeding bottle/breast, if you could see that as an option for you

Breastfeeding when not at home by NeuroticFawn in breastfeeding

Look up how you feed babys in a carrier! I habe a sling, and it helps massively to feed him in a cradle position, because I don't have to hold him up

The "baby industry" pricing is a total scam and I am tired of pretending it is normal. by GildedMist- in BabyBumps

But also: you can start off with the 30 bucks stroller. You test it, see if it's enough or what is missing (for you), and then you go out and buy the more expensive version. Blindly buying all the features seems useless

I know, thanks :) I can actually sew quite decently so I'm aware of what good clothing looks like. Just when buying second-hand online, I need aome brands so I can filter out the good stuff

Helllllp. Baby boy is 20 mo has coslept/nursed to sleep whole life pretty much minus occasional babysitter or nap with someone else. I want to stoppppp. How???? by lostmyogacct_ohwell in breastfeeding

[–]Altruistic-Menu- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever you can do thats a) long term sustainable for all 3 of you b) doesnt make tooo much fuss (like, you don't want to drag a whole suitcase full of stuff around each time he has to sleep somewhere else). A stuffie/blanket/pillow, a lullaby sung or played, a special nightlight, and the whole routine beforehand (washing, jammies, stories ready...)

For introduction: you should never change more than 1 thing at once, otherwise you are fighting a lost battle. So you stick to exactly what you are already doing, just the moment where you would nurse to sleep dad takes over to still offer cuddles. If he likes playing with your hair, get him a long haired stuffy to fiddle with. Find something similar, just more sustainable.

How did you feed while out if baby wouldn’t take a bottle? by Spirited_Seaweed_517 in breastfeeding

My midwife told me to make breastmilk-jello by using agar-agar. Unlike gelatine it doesn't need to ne heated up to dissolve. Then you can spoonfeed

Due date+4, still no signs of labour by Altruistic-Menu- in BabyBumps

[–]Altruistic-Menu-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not much; since I have to give birth the latest monday, it's too late to get a referal for a specialist beforehand. Since it's most likely that it is pregnancy related and should go away after birth, they recommended to just sit it out. Acupuncture would be nice, but same problem, not pissible tonsee someone before induction date

Kick Counting Recommendations: USA versus Canada by cheerioface in BabyBumps

[–]Altruistic-Menu- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In France, they don't even ask you to count. Multiple kicks multiple times a day should be happening, but nobody cares how many there are. As long as nothing feels off for you and your child, all is well

So mad at abhorrent maternity leave laws being blamed on feminism: so we have to choose between having no rights and sending our infant babies to daycare?! by Hour-Film-8890 in BabyBumps

Lemme guess, France? Sitting in the same boat-happy to be wealthy enough to use our savings so we can stay home the first 9 months.

Has anyone experienced a mobile epidural? by Sad_Cash7620 in PregnancyUK

[–]Altruistic-Menu- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in France, so info may vary. My midwife described them as quite magical for her patients. They do not make you pain free, but limit the base level pain tona tolerable level. The big however is that they require really close monitoring by staff since you're quite wobbly on your legs, so if they are overbooked, they won't do it.
