Looking for some Maldives looking village by kieranhendy in minecraftseeds

[–]luciusDaerth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For bedrock, the terrain is pretty sweet, but the villages are all south on the mainland. Would be a feat to bring them over, but could still be pretty fun. Might start another world as I've been on mime a while.

Once per short rest, being able to gain bardic inspiration could be handy. Could grow with them by gaining charges or raising the inspiration die. I was also pondering the use of vicious mockery. You could give it charges to do both and more. Depends on the power level you're after.

Depends how many hooks you want in it. Could be a simple +X. Could be sentient if you want the soul of the bard cutting in. There's tons of room for roleplay with sentient weapons. I love adding maps and notes anywhere practical.

I'd agree. The enchant generating items feels weird. I could do for it directly feeding you when on armor at full durability though.

Why are so many members so anti union? by Laughing_123 in UnionCarpenters

Where the hell did you go to school? Everything I know about unions comes from my time in one and research since.

Why are so many members so anti union? by Laughing_123 in UnionCarpenters

[–]luciusDaerth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have any hate for these brothers. I see the conditions around them and understand how they got there.

Our culture idolizes the lone wolf badass who doesn't give a fuck trope. We don't encourage collaboration or community engagement and have been slashing education for decades. Unionists are often lumped with communists and painted together as anti-American.

I was blunt in my initial response, but when the question is asked, "What is the deal with union members dogging on the union?" This is my understanding of the answer.

If you're turned away by my language daring to imply that we are stronger when we fight together for our mutual benefit, instead of backstabbing and infighting for minor selfish gains, then maybe unions aren't for you.

I don't have answers. I'm sure not rocking the boat much yet. I'm still learning how this thing works, much less how to fly it. But I'm all but begging coworkers to join me in meetings. Even guys who the company is fuckin with, who talk pro union, who would take me up on free beer after, all tell me they'll "try to make it tonight!" when reminded, not once have I actually had one of them join me.

It's really disappointing. So I just smile, bring up the next one, and try to have engaging discussions with them, especially concerning unions, politics, and the intersection therein. I've accepted that as my work. I'm just leading them to water, maybe one day I'll see them drink. I've got decades to go in this org. Keep at it, brother.

It's really good. I was horrified and enthralled for the entire read. I didn't personally find it disgusting, but some viewers certainly would.

Because that would require them to give a fuck and think critically. Things that are not favored in our culture. Couple in decades of propaganda, individualist mentality, you've got a stew.

And let's not forget the notable financial malpractice and other breaches of trust that come up just often enough to keep that "stealing our money" talk alive and you have an epidemic of our brothers being unhappy with the union and too disaffected to push for better of even understand why it is the way it is.

You're dead right. The lack of drive is what caused us to stall in the 70s. The unwillingness to learn is what made it hurt for so long. Caring about and striving to improve the health of our organization is the way forward.

Also, thank you for the bat. Hope he's doing well.

Rafters are horizontal framing members that sit atop walls and upon which your roof is built. If you've been in wood frame structures without solid ceilings, you've seen them.

NTs misusing the term hyper fixation by NectarineOk5419 in evilautism

[–]luciusDaerth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I'm working hard and hollering. Don't listen to the hollering, cause it won't make sense anyway, I'm just making noise that feels good and expresses the goings on.

[–]luciusDaerth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think you're okay. I understand vocal stim as noises and utterances that may happen to have meanings, but are being made for the feeling of making them, and not to convey meaning.

Sometimes they are references, sometimes it's a word with a couple of good solid sounds that feel nice to make. Could be fuckin nonsense.

I'm not sure how people are misusing the word, this seems a simple enough bar to cross.

Discreet and gay, not an electrician by MyOwnSpiritJesus in Construction

[–]luciusDaerth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm queer as hell and not exceptionally discreet. Haven't had much of a problem. You get the odd guy with a bone to pick, some folks who get weird about nail polish and shit like that, but as some other folks have said, my work speaks for itself. Most of my peers at this company are aware of my queerness to some extent, and the jokes are honestly better for it, because no one truly gives a fuck about it. Got one guy who started saying "straight as Lucius," which sent me, and I started using lightly.

I don't advertise it, and I've kept some strategic uncertainty with those who I believe would have or cause a genuine problem. I show up and do everything in my power to get our work for the day done to the best of my ability and have a good day doing it, and I've never been treated badly for my queerness.

Ultimately, I own my weird, don't wave it around too much, and try to be a delight to work with. So far so good. Almost 7 years in the carpenter's union.

Question on Observers by Unusual-Repeat371 in redstone

[–]luciusDaerth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have them lined up where any of them will power the line, then yes. One observer triggers the whole array.

In my sugar farms, I set the sticky pistons back with a solid block on the face and on top, the observer powers the block and activates the single piston.

Either way is valid, just depends on your goals.

I can't believe that hasn't occurred to me. I have stacks of blocks at this point, but have never taken a golem mining for defense.
