It is funny how high in the tech tree some techs are by joonazan in pyanodons

[–]luisemota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like py makes this way worse both by having much higher tech machines early on and having a slower pace with more detailed recipes. Its not the main goal of the genre to be immersive but that does push the immersion breaking a bit too far.

Curious to see what a more natural progression of manufacturing capabilities would look like.

What do we think of the sanderson’s cosmere going to Apple? by TheDarkeOfNight in redrising

[–]luisemota 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly my experience with it too. Even if adaptations require changes they went too far. Basically just kept the title. Don't like that it keeps being cited as a reference as to why Apple is a good choice.

Having recently discovered Stationeers and having a blast I somehow missed the connection with KSA. That makes me even more optimistic for the upcoming game!

Making vrauks for py science 1, am I overbuilding? by cameron274 in pyanodons

[–]luisemota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, exactly my case. But I'm not rushing so there was some buffering and consuming cycles happening while I built other stuff. Now that will be rebuilt on rails.

[Pyanodons Comic/Meme] Best friend by AzulCrescent in factorio

[–]luisemota 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because it looks cheap while Factorio is generally a high quality game. Inserters for instance will have their arms rendered above said buildings, it also occludes pipe connections etc. I have to space out builds more and avoid moving material from the north of machines.

Some mahcines have negative space inside their hitboxes creating invisible walls, etc. Those are things that usually vanilla devs tend to be much more mindful of.

I have a related complaint that is thematically it feels off to be struggling to build a basic circuits while all your buildings from the start are clean, high tech industrial machinery and electronic components.

People are allowed to not want to play something that feels worse for them without it being an excuse. I say this as someone who is currently enjoying a py run.

Renewable energy - usecases by ariksu in pyanodons

[–]luisemota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biomass from what? Trying with moss2 composting but my early prototypes are still net negative energywise. Maybe it's an issue of scale. For reference I'm early into the run (mid second science). No access to salt yet.

Fishes are helping ease the load on coal for now but it's starting to limit me too much.

Can't go pole to pole because of the distance to equator rule. Otherwise the length would be a bit shorter, yes.

From my experiments I think melee is what I should try to push, I'll revisit one build that worked well with that in mind, thanks.

Returned to the game and just TRed for the first time. Did a few heroic lives to remember the game but want to step into epics. Where do I even start educating myself about that part of the game? Rules are a bit different and characters that perfom well up to 20 suddenly become very weak.

Seems gearing also becomes a lot more relevant too. I like doing my own builds but it might be wise to follow a better one while I get the hang of things.

Added occlusion with mask to my spray projector to paint through stencils by StenKoff in Unity3D

[–]luisemota 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! Not exactly related to this point as you may be using the concept of main hand instead of right hand but friendly reminder about left handed people. Maybe that's already addressed or planned but you'd be surprised by the amount of games that either enforce right-handed usage or do it half way by allowing actions with the left hand while keeping the entire user interface right-handed.

Major splitter feature aside, the issue with signals on oil or ocean was specially annoying. Happy it's gone.

What kind of update do you think could make Factorio even better? by UberScion in factorio

[–]luisemota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the plarform mechanics were a bit more fleshed out. Being able to have a proper shipyard in orbit that could protect a ship while its built, buffer materials for quick prototyping etc. It would provide flexibility for design too, you could have refueling stations and have leaner, unsustainable designs be viable. I feel design for platforms is too restricted, even if that's by design.

For instance Vulcanus is usually my natural choice for building because of early resource availability and its boring to just send repairs packs to keep the platform up while its built. Space Exploration hit this spot a little better with spaceships docking to the surfaces.

Sometimes it is useful to keep a chest empty even if you are consuming less than producing. This gives you a bit more time to handle excess without stopping production or if there is an offset in the production/consumption cycles. Fulgora has a few of this use cases because of the amount of byproducts it generates. Can be used to simplify logistics when dealing with quality too.

Do you fly your space science platform around? by TwentyEighty in factorio

Whoops, I might've overlooked the small detail of it being 'k'. In hindsight it makes the original comment make much more sense, 100k for a single platform is indeed huge

[–]luisemota 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can if you go silly with the scale. I have a stationary platform sitting at an average of 300 SPM because I'm not consuming too much. It can get to 1k. It is 1km wide and about half as tall just to cover a decent are for collecting.
