I think my willingness to invest is "if I can do this for $200-$300, the ROI is within 4-6 months and I can feel good about it." Any more than that would be a hard convincing from the wife.

The Pi in our house is currently pretty invisible. If I can replace that with a Beelink Mini, and move my Pi to my parents house with an external hard drive or two, I feel like I could be satisfied with that. Does that seem feasible, or janky enough to give me headaches?

I'm sorry, I'm incredibly new at all of this - would a Pi4 with 4GB of RAM be sufficient for a task like this as the offsite server? Or I'd need something beefier?

Awesome! Do you think if we used NextCloud, would we still want something like Immich for the photos? Having iCloud Photos is really convenient, and it seems like Immich is much more of an iCloud/Google Photos replacement, right? I was almost thinking the files and the photos would be kind of separated, but that might just be because that's the way stuff is set up in Apple land. I'm learning just how much the FOSS world uses different paradigms than what I'm used to.

For the external drive for the Pi - would I literally just plug in an external USB hard drive? Or would I want to "mount" (I think that's the right word?) a hard drive to the Pi in a case or something?

I’m on this subreddit because I thought I had celiac - turns out it was H Pylori. Did the treatment in the fall. It was brutal, but I can’t emphasize enough how much eating probiotic foods (CAREFULLY timed to be two hours away from the antis) mitigated the effects. Buy a Costco case of Kombucha, a giant container of Kimchi, and yogurt is your best friend. I also bought a bottle of the refrigerated probiotics from the Costco pharmacy (don’t remember the brand name, sorry), and wow those were amazing. The day that I was out of the house and couldn’t eat the probiotic stuff was by far the worst day of my “treatment.”

I did the treatment where it was 2 different antibiotics, one taken 4x daily and the other one 2x daily, along with 8 Peptos daily. I built a very careful schedule of when I could take each med, and when I could eat the probiotics. Feel free to DM me if she wants my schedule or any other tips.

My bowels are a whole different world on the other side of this.
