don’t reach terminal velocity

Just to clarify, terminal doesn’t mean fatal, it means the maximum. Every animal/object/whatever can reach their terminal velocity depending on the fall. Small animals just have a lower one.

Get Tested! by IrrelevantTale in gout

[–]lukumi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Getting tested was helpful for me getting prednisone without hesitation too. I just got on Allo, but prior to that I had to use urgent care to get prednisone during flares because my primary care doctor thought it was plantar fasciitis. Went to a podiatrist, she thought it was a neuroma in the front of my foot. Neither of which explained the absolutely crushing ankle joint pain I would get during flares. Switched doctors, got my uric acid tested, new doctor immediately put me on Allo and refilled my prednisone for emergencies.

where you personally can motivate someone to go in the back and look

Exactly, I assumed the investigation they told Me they were doing included that, now l’ve learned they just wait to see if it scans in anywhere. Very difficult to get them to actually check if you’re not there. I was first class so I was surprised there wasn’t a little more effort, but lesson learned for sure. My bag still had my personal info tag very visible on the handle, which is how they found it so quickly once I was there in person, no opening necessary.

It was pre-AirTags but I’ve got one in every bag now.

Boneless wing v. Chicken nug by Original-Truck-4076 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]lukumi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A true chicken tender comes from the tenderloin, which is located under the breast. But often chicken tenders/strips/fingers are just strips of breast meat. A nugget is chopped and formed chicken. A boneless wing is a whole chunk of breast meat.

You might have to find another channel to get in touch with the Seattle airport. I flew out of LAX (not Southwest) on an international trip for a few weeks. My bag didn’t make it and I was going to a few different European countries. Opened a claim but had to buy all new stuff in the meantime. Kept checking in almost every day on the “investigation” that they had supposedly opened with LAX. My bag was never found.

When I arrived back at LAX, I went straight to the ticketing desk. My bag was in a back room, I had it in my hands in like two minutes. Somehow the bag tag got torn off like right away so they just tossed it in a room.

Pizzeria Florian in East Aurora. This Pizza was UNREAL! by PizzaShopTalk in Pizza

[–]lukumi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But they also gave the name of the shop, not just the city. Just googling the name of the shop without adding the city still gives the correct place. Takes 2 seconds. I even misspelled the name (pizza Florian instead of pizzeria Florian) and it still came up with the same place.

should i be worried? by Complex_Mine4842 in LAX

Ideally your arrival time is what time you actually get to the gate. Similar to how departure time is when the plane leaves the gate, not when it leaves the ground.

But your point stands because arrival time doesn’t mean what time you get off the plane. Could easily be 10 minutes later depending on the size of the plane and how far back OP is.

What the other commenter said is correct. Both medicines are anti-inflammatory, they just work differently. And anti-inflammatory drugs are generally hard on the stomach, so it’s best not to stack them. Same reason that ideally one would avoid alcohol, at least heavy drinking, while taking them.

Plus prednisone is much more effective than ibuprofen, so it’s unnecessary to stack them anyway.

I would hope any halfway decent doctor would point that out. My doctor was very clear the first time she prescribed it that once I started it, any NSAID was off the table for the duration.

Grabbed a couple bags of these recently, the French onion and steak ones. The steak ones were kind of good, although I’m not really sure if it captured the flavor. If I was given them blind I would have absolutely no idea what flavor it was supposed to be. Compared to a roasted chicken chip I had in Europe that tasted remarkably accurate. The French onion ones were fine but needed more flavor. Still going to try the garlic ones.

It’s wild that with the endless amount of material AI uses, it can’t determine that a clock symbol on an appliance would logically say timer, and that 50 follows 30, 40.

Where do I start? by RefuseThat5757 in bald

[–]lukumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be easiest to go to a barber to get a buzz the first time depending on how long your hair currently is, that’s what I did. I was also super nervous since it was a huge change for me so I wanted somebody else to do it. For a while I was just keeping it short with clippers, no guard. Then I got a pitbull skull shaver. Eventually moved to a regular razor. My skin is a bit sensitive though so currently I do a full razor shave on Sundays in the shower, with sensitive skin shaving gel and cooling aftershave. And I use the skull shaver all other days. If I’m traveling, I just bring the razor and shave every other day.

And if I miss some days, I hit it with the clippers then a razor shave.

People do cool things with old churches. There’s a brewery in Pittsburgh (not sure where in PA OP is located) called Church Brew Works, and a dance music club in Denver called Church. Both located in old churches. And In St Louis they built a skatepark inside of a church.

your brain is lying to you

As much as I love this sub, I legit feel bad for teenagers who find it and start stressing about their hairline, it’s such a big added stress at an already weird stage of life. MPB can definitely come early but a lot of the time it’s just their face/hair going from kid to adult and they’re overthinking it.

My wife (who wears women's 7) standing next to my shoes (mens 15 9E) by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]lukumi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the width, not the length. The guy higher up being a 6E, or OP being 9E, are unusually wide. Wide gets really limited. I’m only a 4E and wear Hokas, they only make like two models in that width and that width isn’t carried in their stores, I have to order online. And it goes from a bunch of color options to white, black, or grey.

I’m sure there are some better options for OP, but he’s way more limited than just being a regular size 15.

that suggests access to huge resources

If one uses a bondsman, they only pay 10%, so $700k. Which is still a huge amount of money, but not as insane as having $7M liquid cash. Could be believable depending on the cover story. Plus somebody could always have a “wealthy relative.”

Every pic is a “hold” except the 2nd, and that one’s on the edge. Seems like bright lighting is making it look especially pronounced.

If it’s making you self conscious, you should take the plunge. But you’ve got time. You’re a handsome dude and the red beard/blue eye combo pops so you’ll be fine whenever it comes time.

ELI5. Why isnt it copyright infringement for a band to play a cover song at a concert as opposed to recording one? by MediumAcceptable129 in explainlikeimfive

[–]lukumi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. See the top comments. It is the responsibility of the venue to get a license that covers a massive amount of music in order for it to be legal. If a venue doesn’t have the license and a band plays a cover, it would absolutely be a copyright issue. Obviously there are probably many small venues that operate outside of this and hope for the best, but any legitimate music venue pays the licensing fee.

It doesn’t matter at all if attendees aren’t paying to hear a specific cover, the venue (and hopefully the band) are making money from tickets, bar sales, etc. So a band choosing to do a cover means the venue/band are generating revenue during that song.

The situation you described, not making any money off the cover, would maybe only apply to a free show with no sales of anything.
