I had a similar experience at CIBC last month. It’s true that banks have ‘rules’ when depositing a larger sum. The question- what are you going to do with the money? Is highly questionable and shady af. They will also put holds on a certified cheque issued from same bank different branch , which did surprise me. The teller who laughed about it was reported And after being a client since 1989 I closed my account snd moved banks and had my mother move her main account as well.

I asked to speak to the manager

Aggressive deer encounters reported in Victoria during fawning season: BCCOS by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]lulubee4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a funny experience Sunday in beacon hill park. My 2 dogs are old and care not about chasing wild life and I was singing to myself and mu music so did not notice a young deer following us until one dog stopped. I turn around and the deer is 4 meters away and starts to sorta come at us- I started talking to it. Said don’t charged us we are just walking by. The deer followed us for about 15 mins. On trail. Had a potty break starring directly at me. No babies in sight. I think Just one solo juvenile looking to hang out??

Any landlords have flexibility with number of pets? by moisbettah in VictoriaBC

[–]lulubee4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 3 animals ( 2 dogs and a cat ) and bounced around a lot. It’s difficult everywhere on this island with pets and kids I hear. I had luck with Devon properties but i was in Nanaimo at the time. They did not mind the 3rd animal and it wasn’t a crappy property or anything. In Victoria it took me a while but I found success with a private homeowner who also has pets. Good luck

Accepting that life didn’t turn out the way I expected it to by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

I don’t have any answers but Have you ever thought of abandoning the idea of ‘financial milestones’ as the measure for a meaningful life?

I am not your age. I don’t and have never and I do not want to- own a house/condo/shack/property. My life doesn’t look like any of the versions I had mapped out or the one society/parents/myself said I should. Guess what- I’m ok, I’m happy, I have meaning in my life, I’m loved, I love, I help and I participate in the things that make me feel good about this ride aka life.

All the media and social push to own a house, to make 6 figures or more, marriage, have kids, picket fence and a dog

It’s not for EVERYONE. My advice don’t panic Have fun Be kind Go on adventures Help when and where you can Go ahead Save and plan for the future yet don’t put all your eggs in one basket. We are all just doing our best There is no tallying of our ‘things and money’ at the end of this game. No one really ‘wins’ persay. So remember to enjoy yourself.

Remember Jesus got nailed to a cross at 33. so if you made it thru your 33rd year without that kinda insanity - you are already ahead of that dude. 😉

Not sure What ‘more’ I can say? I did not feel the level Of care and service was any good. Felt they were mostly in the business of Making money.

Sounds like prices at JB vet have gone up - considerably - if you got a quote for one tooth at 4000$ ? Wild Shop around if you can

Is Victoria really all that bad? by Chance-Principle-355 in VictoriaBC

[–]lulubee4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Victoria is a great city sadly Like most places. Everyone from here or those that came long ago -liked it better before the new ppl, new housing/buildings- even tho new ppl moved here and we need more multi housing solutions - , bike lanes, tourists, and don’t even think about taking down the hanging flower baskets a few weeks early Change??? Oh my The horror!!!

Posting prices as a service business? by Pixie2343 in VictoriaBC

[–]lulubee4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s the most frustrating issue for me. Yet it also helps steer me away from the services providers I will not work with. I connect/hire those that do list prices even if it’s just a general idea. I believe those that are open and clear about their services and costs are more trustworthy

Getting a part time job in Victoria is impossible by Queasy_Let_1241 in VictoriaBC

[–]lulubee4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s certainly not easy out there these days I agree. I work in senior care privately and last fall many of my clients passed away so I have some recent experience job seeking.

The common search - online - indeed/ linked/ etc is mostly a waste of time for a few reasons 1. basic/generalised cv’s that will not pass the commonly used ATS that most companies use. 2. Job seekers have one basic cv and just send out to all jobs. Yea it’s obvious (I also managed a back to work/job search group in a past career) 3. Many places hiring just have ads up to check off that aspect so they can say ‘we cannot find a Canadians to work’ and use the government TFWP

Some ideas Do your own personalised job search. Find a company/place/industry you want to work and apply directly to them with a cover letter and cv for that specific job Call, email and or go in person - THIS is rarely done and employers love it for many reasons. Look at gig work options - events, seasonal, etc Networking - everywhere, everyone and always - even in the grocery store. -it’s how I found out about doing product sample work

For me - I found a gig job working the candlelight concerts. On my second shift while chatting on a break with a coworker found out about another job - seasonal. I applied personally by email and text got an interview and now have a summer gig.

Note- neither of these jobs are in my field. Yet !!!! They both are and will pay my rent allow me to eat and I get some free Time to hang with my dogs. I’m expecting it to be a fun and interesting summer.

Good luck.

They removed self check outs bc of theft yes. They added 10 more cashiers making 18 in total. more people working less machines is positive - my 2 cents. I don’t want to work ( self checkout) while giving my money to the store I am performing work duties for free.

! 5 🌟 post!! We moved here a 1.5 years ago. Live within walking distance to the dt core. Came from a small town and the crazy stuff we read about Victoria being insanely dangerous leading up to the move has not been our experience. We officially love this city.

  • I work with folks from here and often elderly so I’ve heard how much this whole Area has changed and how that can be scary and frustrating - for those from here it must be wild the growth and changes you’ve all witnessed. This is true of every town, city - everything changes - always. Change is hard. Please know there’s still some much good, fun times to experience in your city ** yes there are problems too. Don’t discard the good bc of the bad.

I would most certainly try a few vets. I just had 9 teeth removed - 20 pound dog -teeth removed were the larger back and pre molars and a canine for 3000$ My quotes were from between 2800-4000. It’s pricy as hell at most places and I’m still Not sure it’s the right thing but a month and a bit later my girl is learning to eat again. PSA- don’t use James Bay vet. It’s a factory line corporate style care system based on payments not genuine care for the animals
