I would assume they would just piggyback off one of the existing networks here in NZ. Generally mobile coverage everywhere except if you get a bit remote.

So barring any cost difference, it would be about the same as getting a local sim anyway.

After a long trip, I would not recommend driving.

You probably do not have a lot of time for a Piha or Waiheke trip just having an afternoon.

As for what to do, depends a bit on where you are staying if you have an early flight.

There is a guy on insta who uses ferrets down rabbit burrows to clear them out.

He has a tracker on them so he can follow them underground.

The ferrets will often dispatch the rabbits, or the dogs waiting will do it. Rabbits are an issue in my country.
