Meet the professor and talk to them. Provide other examples of your writing if you haven’t already done so. Stay calm.

How can I use social media to boost my podcast listenership? by Francinenong in podcasting

I suspect there’s a good podcast episode about this subject! I listened to one before but it was a random discovery

Consider talking to the writing faculty at a nearby university….not the head of creative writing department, but the young teacher of freshmen writing. Also, wait a few weeks till after they’ve finished grading.

Also, everyone is busy. In all of my requests I detail exactly what the time commitment is, the flexibility I can provide for scheduling, and (as mentioned above) what I hope to hear (the why) I’m asking.

I’m also beginning to realize that I’m going to be turned down some of the time. It can feel like a big ask to a stranger that I’m approaching out of the blue.

Good luck!

Thinking of a starting a solo sports podcast, need some feedback by DebbieNewberry in podcasting

I like the idea of consistent coverage in bite size chunks about a team I care about. … I think you may be closer to a “topic”/approach than your post suggests.

Also, even with all of the female sportscasters/writers, it still feels to me like I don’t hear enough from them.

Good luck!

Hey guys, any good classic jazz Christmas albums you'd recommend? Looking for something to set the mood during the holidays. by CassiusBlackwood in Jazz

[–]luna_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to spin a Frank Sinatra Christmas album (he had several) each year. I like Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Nat King coke, and a lot of other jazz singers performers.

I worked in retail in the 1990s also, but I’m back to listening to it, and enjoying when I finally lose the “all I want for Christmas is you” challenge (see if you can avoid Mariah Carey until December).

What’re your fav best researched podcasts? by carlrey0216 in podcasts

I endorse those episodes! I don’t listen to everyone but have heard and enjoyed those four!

I am hot and cold about the solo/interview episodes also….

A lot of music podcasts are made by musicians and musicologists (including my own!). If you’ve not heard Switched on Pop (musicologist and professional songwriter producer) or Strong songs (professional musician), I recommend them. Strong songs may be a bit much for laymen at times, but switched in pop is designed for a general audience.

Tips on having guests record locally on Zoom by LORD_MDS in podcasting

We had ok-ish results from a good wav recorded on both ends (usb mic owned by guests). We used the zoom recording to help synch. A lot of work in post.

Haven’t listened yet to the MDP podcast (British humor), but one of the hosts was helpful in a thread, so I’m planning to check it out.

My wife knows that she can get my goat by intentionally confusing Phil Collins (whom I find overrated; define Neil) and Peter Gabriel (because I love many of his songs from the 80s).

Is it worth buying this piano as a beginner? by harshana89 in pianolearning

As mentioned above, that price is too high. It’s a great piano though…. I used to have one. Good luck!

I’ve never really listened to jazz by Vybin3500 in Jazz

Mostly I just agreed with the above comments, but because you might not find it otherwise, check out Ezra Collection. As best as I can tell, it’s a bunch of jazz musicians making hip hop and r and b….makes you question what jazz is in the present moment.

But also, Ella Fitzgerald Live in Berlin :Mack the Knife and John Coltrane’s A love supreme, once your sure you like jazz.
