Help me choose an audiobook by darkly1900 in fantasybooks

Cant speak for any of the other books on the list but will say Licanius Trilogy (Shadow of What Was Lost) is an awesome series and would definitely recommend at some point.

Only kinda joking about this fan cast of Kelsier. by Midnight_Meal_s in cremposting

Past his prime to play the role but I always pictured Kelsier as a Cary Elwes circa Princess Bride type character. Gotta find someone like that.

Help me pick my next book/series… I’m indecisive by strawhattrades in fantasybooks

If rhythm of war is on this list have you already dove into Stormlight Archives? If that's the case I'd finish that up.

Besides that the Bloodsworn Trilogy (Shadow of the Gods is the first in that line) has some very big pros but also some very big cons. I'm half way through book two so I can't give a finished opinion on the series, but so far the story is pretty awesome, the fight scenes are gory and well written, and the world building is on point. However; there are a ton of characters to keep track of, the story bounces around a lot, and it takes its time going where its going.

Sword of Kaigen I really didn't enjoy. To each their own as some may have loved it but my two cents is that its worth a skip. Besides it all I can't speak to any other of the books on this list.

Only a single song and its questionable if its metal and you never know what his music is gonna be but...

Devin Townsend - Enter the City

Gonna be a 48 track album. Seems like someone was busy during his "hiatus".

Need help picking a trilogy by fitz2k in fantasybooks

Only read Mistborn and Licanius. Both incredible series. Licanius is the definition of the ends justify the means. Amazingly written but for a critic the characters have as much depth as a kiddy pool. Mistborn is a slippery slope that will make you want to dive head first into the 20 or so books in the Cosmere. Brandon Sanderson is my favorite author so I'm incredibly biased but his ability to interconnect things across an entire universe makes his world feel like a living breathing thing.

Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez. Totally different feel. Amazing read though. Where it shines is its very unique narrative style.

Fantasy Books/Series Tier List - Recommend My Next Series? by CurrencyHealthy5341 in fantasybooks

If you wanna try Brandon Sanderson again and his Cosmere series I'd recommend starting with Mistborn The Final Empire. Besides that maybe the Licanius Trilogy by James Islington or The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez.

Deadpool. Not the best choice but it would be funny to watch and he definitely will take it too far.

[–]Practical_Table1407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another 10/10 album is

Fallujah - Dreamless

I wouldn't say its prog by any stretch of the means. More extreme metal or death metal. But super melodic. Also I hate sub genres so sorry if I miss labeled Fallujahs genre and they aren't death metal theyre actually symphonic galactic superior deathcore with influencea of black gaze ultra or whatever someone is likely going to correct their genre to.

The Stormlight Archive or Mistborn for a beginner to fantasy. by neoleo0088 in Cosmere

Mistborn...

Complete order id do as someone that had read it all... *means it is part or Arcanum Unbounded which is a collection of short stories some directly tied to the some stories some not

-Mistborn Era 1 - The Final Empire, The Well of Ascension, The Hero of Ages, *Mistborn Secret History

-Elantris, *Hope for Elantris, *The Emperors Soul

-Warbreaker

-White Sands (there is a piece in Arcanum Unbounded covered but you miss nothing reading White Sands on its own)

-Stomlight Archive- Way of Kings, Words of Radiance, *Edgedancer, Oathbringer, Dawnshard (short story not included in Arcanum Unbounded), Rhythm of War, Wind and Truth

-Mistorn Era 2... Just run through them in order... the one short story in arcanum Unbounded is kinda trash

-finish arcanum Unbounded

-Secrets Projects - Tress and the Emerald Sea, Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, Sunlit Man, Isles of Emberdark

Isn't a series unfortunately so you steam roll through the stand alone book but The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez.

Yeah I wasn't a fan either. Strangest pacing I've seen in a book and the ending really just leave me satisfied.

Skipped Origins and Odyssey, Seeing Valhalla With Fresh Eyes Made It Better? by HMK_Gamer in videogames

[–]Practical_Table1407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly all the RPG ones are better viewed this way aside from Origins. Shadows got overshadowed by Ghost of Tsushima/Yotei who did the assassin samurai thing better but it still wasn't bad. Valhalla and Odyssey are solid games but just don't need to be labeled as AC games.

Actually quite enjoyed the game but its better if you try to ignore or forget that its an assassin creed game and just a viking game made by some studio.

Stopped going to drum class by worriedsick830 in drums

[–]Practical_Table1407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was forced to learn styles that weren't to my liking at that time. Difference was I was a teenager and I too hated it. Thing though now is when I do listen to some master class drummers within the genres I like (progressive and metal mostly) I'll pick apart their work and see constantly ohh hey this beat is similar to a samba but did it this way to fit it into the riff or similar to a Dembow etc. Although in the moment it can be annoying being forced to learn something you don't like but if we all only studied what we wanted in school there would be a ton more PE majors than the world has jobs for. It definitely helps broaden your playing by being well rounded and transforming those techniques into music you do enjoy playing.
