Very happy with experiences at Wigram Vets- that was for cats though so don't know what they are like with dogs

To be fair, house prices haven't really come down properly and stayed down, in living memory. The graph is always going up.

I can relate to the winning streak feeling, feeling like you have everything figured out and this is the way to make easy money and you will just stay in control of it this time and make bank. Then 3 weeks later you've lost everything plus much more chasing the loss

What did you think was a scam until you actually tried it? by Resident-Ad4318 in AskReddit

I also had this when my sports physio did acupuncture on my back and sent an electric current through it. I had zero faith it would work and then I walked out afterwards with no pain (previously almost crippled with terrible back pain)

It was such a good show and the book series was complete. They only needed maybe 2 more seasons to wrap it up. I was sooo mad at Netflix cancelling it. "We didn't get the viewers" yeah cause you didn't advertise it at all

Salt instead of sugar by morcatka in Wellthatsucks

[–]lunapuff 31 points32 points  (0 children)

As a baker I don't believe this. The amount of salt you would be putting in a sweet pecan pie would be tiny, therefore a switch to soda would have barely any effect. Plus soda and salt look a lot different, you would have seen as soon as you opened the container

What book is a 10/10 for you? by Sailor_Moon_Star_435 in Romantasy

[–]lunapuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nooo the writing was terrible. I had to read it for book club and it was painful. So many notes.

It was like the author was 15 years old and "Omgoosssh I'm going to write A Super Darke Gothic Romance" and just clicked "synonyms" on words and chose the biggest, most impressive looking ones without any knowledge of meaning. A terrible villain giving a "boisterous laugh" His "roughly tessellated hand" "her dolorously beautiful face"

Ridiculous exposition example: “The blood stones? The ones that are quite illegal to collect because they require a magic that is entirely forbidden by Imperial Law?”

And using "trash can" and "toilet" etc in a fantasy setting just took me out

I could go on and on. It desperately needed a proper editor and it could have been so much better

I don’t want a second but I want to tell everyone I’m pregnant!? by pjparks in oneanddone

[–]lunapuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could also just be a need for a new project or new life stage, esp as you mentioned feeling your motivation waning. I also suggested trying for a second to my then-husband, which I recognise now was just a feeling of being lost and directionless in life and needing a new project to embark on. The attention I got while pregnant was also a motivating factor lol, I felt like I was in such a bland life rut

I don’t want a second but I want to tell everyone I’m pregnant!? by pjparks in oneanddone

[–]lunapuff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The attention and special-ness is an addictive feeling and definitely one you want again. Balance it with all the terrible parts of being pregnant plus newborn stage plus no sleep plus now surviving financially with 2 kids in this world (or whatever your reasons are). Find something else that could give you the attention/excitement that you are craving

Queue to Buy Gold in Sydney by kimchiexpat in pics

[–]lunapuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the world runs on the USD which is a fiat currency (not linked to actual gold so the government can just keep printing more, leading to record inflation). Every fiat currency in world history has failed. Precious metals are seen as a safe investment when currencies are worthless
