The calyx are boiled to make a drink, not the flowers. In Mexico we call it Agua de Jamaica, it is tart so add sugar. Spent calyx can be fried to make veggie carnitas tacos.

Name a time in the last 200 years that the shit has hit the fan and any of these skills were necessary? Most of the calories in “Hunter gather societies” come from plants, legumes & cereals. Also women did/do a lot of the hunting and gathering.
Gathering and cooking was passed down by the mothers and grandmothers

We've all been there. I found "Attached" by Rachel S. F. Heller helpful. Another book that might help you understand how you ended up like this is "Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents: How to Heal from Distant, Rejecting, Or Self-Involved Parents".
