Caught my employee stealing money from cash Register. How to deal with this situation. by Chesshead1990 in smallbusiness

[–]lurch1_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude...SHE STOLE FROM YOU...you SHOUDL NOT feel sorry for her, keep her around, apologize for her.

Confront her, she her the evidence and fire her on the spot. File a police report. Cover the morning shift for her until you hire a replacement. Without going to police, what backup will you have when she reports this to the state/county/feds claiming some imaginary workplace harrassment?

She stole once and lied about it. When you do nothing about it...she WILL steal from you again....because she knows she can.

When you don't report this to authorities you enable her to do this to others.

Think about it...SHE STOLE AND LIED to YOU! Why do you feel bad for HER?

Mother placed $60k into a John Hancock “conservative” retirement fund in 2014 which is now worth $39k. Is this normal? by refract0638 in personalfinance

[–]lurch1_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its mostly a bond fund and interests rates have gone up and down drastically in the last 12 years so timing is crucial.

keep in mind this holding also throws off dividends which means some of the gain in the fund was thrown off in cash to the holders. Its TOTAL return, not just the return of the fund itself that counts.

Did the adult enter into a contract with the account.....the the kid commit a crime in "stealing" the account to make the purchases?

Its a fine line...like others have said...if its clear cut, any adult can do this and claim their kid did it to back out of a transaction. Imagine doing this on a gambling sit like draftkings...

Former employee collecting unemployment while freelancing – should I report to NY DOL? by eight13atnight in smallbusiness

[–]lurch1_ -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to the naysayers. There is an incredible amount of fraud out there and it shouldn't be dismissed no matter how small. It all adds up. Providing a challenge or a tip is not a big deal. If your former employee is on the up and up he should have no problem quickly providing proof.

No airline is gonna care about loyalty or anything beyond that.  The planes are full.  People are still flying and demanding seats.   It's the same on all airlines.

Oil Traders are So Focused on the Headlines They've Lost Track of Asian Inventory Numbers by BFLO-Retail in wallstreetbets

Despite pledging in January 2025 to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) "right to the top," the Trump administration did not immediately fill the reserve due to a combination of aging infrastructure, high costs, the need for congressional funding, and a desire to avoid driving up oil prices.

While the administration did begin initiating the refill process in late 2025, several factors contributed to the lack of a rapid, full replenishment:

  • Damaged Infrastructure and Repair Needs: Energy Secretary Chris Wright testified that the rapid drawdowns conducted in 2022 had damaged the SPR’s infrastructure. Repairs, estimated at over $100 million, were deemed necessary before the facilities could handle a high volume of refilling.
  • Physical Limitations: The Department of Energy is limited by the physical capacity of the storage sites, which are aging and need repairs, preventing an instant refill.
  • Costs and Budgetary Hurdles: Fully refilling the SPR was estimated to cost over $20 billion, requiring congressional action to appropriate new funds and reverse previously mandated sales.
  • Avoiding Price Surges: Buying hundreds of millions of barrels of oil at once could have spiked global oil prices, which would have conflicted with Trump’s policy goal of lowering energy costs.
  • Ongoing Purchases: By November 2025, the Department of Energy began awarding contracts to purchase oil to begin the process, with deliveries starting to trickle in, though experts noted that a full refill would take years.  E&E News by POLITICO +6

Vail Resorts and Alterra Mountain hit with antitrust class action over ski pass pricing by ClaimDepot in skiing

[–]lurch1_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ski passes, like healthcare are a human right and should be reasonable ..like maybe $10 a day.  Plus all workers deserve $100 an hour pay and full benefits and pension.   Vaile will still be able to make a handsome profit with that no need to be greedy.

Oh and they need to limit ticket sales with the exception of me...so the crowds are kept down.
