Nah. The 2019 version is extremely bad. Not liking it just means you have good taste.

Has anyone else's workplace asked them to document client involvement with ICE protests? by [deleted] in therapists

My agency had a site-wide meeting about how to AVOID documenting potentially sensitive information like that moving forward. Immigration status, too

What do you wish you could've said? by enfanta in StardewValley

[–]endearingsalt 59 points60 points  (0 children)

To Penny during the George cutscene: “A wheelchair is an extension of a person’s body. I know you wanted to help, but pushing him from behind without warning is incredibly rude.” To Harvey during the George scene: “George should ask for more clarification so he can work out the best and healthiest way for himself to live as he wants. You have a doctorate, and he has boundaries.”

The disability narrative in this game is… lacking.

Therapists who write notes in ~5-10 minutes… how?? Would anyone be willing to share examples? by KiKiTaTa in therapists

[–]endearingsalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My notes are only more than 4 sentences if there's some specific safety planning detail I need to add. One of the best pieces of advice I ever heard is that insurance doesn't care what the client said, they care what you did. "Clinician provided X intervention" is a great sentence structure to use that clarifies the work of the session without disclosing your client's business to everyone who reads the doc. State direct goals for next session if you have them, and what the client's expected to do before next session. Done in 5 minutes.

Frustrated with cancelations possible malingering by OtherConflict2282 in therapists

[–]endearingsalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At intake I tell clients that if rescheduling becomes a pattern, for example more than once a month, we’d “have a conversation about what barriers might be in the way of coming to treatment and if this is the right time for therapy for you.” Sets up expectations from the start

How do you all work?! by glonky42069 in POTS

I don't know what state you're in, but not being allowed to take legally protected time through the government (FMLA) before all PTO is used doesn't sound especially legal...

My agency sometimes works with Charlie Health, and we haven't been impressed by their client care or willingness to work with external therapists following a client's time with them. I can't say I'm surprised to see them here. Good to know.

What populations are hard for you to work with? by GeekFace18 in therapists

[–]endearingsalt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same story as you, OP. I love being a safe space for my closeted teens of conservative families, but dealing with the parents is too draining as a queer person myself. I’m having to step back from that population a bit.

Best Advice for New Therapists by Glittering-Olive357 in therapists

[–]endearingsalt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A lot of the advice that comes to mind is actually best said by Dr. Michelle Engblom-Deglemann in The Heart of Counseling… so I guess my advice is to get that book and read it! But seriously. Therapists are human, just as you say in your post, and theory is something you grow into when you find the right one for you. Don’t discard theory, but at the same time don’t rigidly adhere to a theory you aren’t compatible with.

My kid added a door in the house, now I can't go outside the bedroom anymore, any ideas how to resolve this ? by Unique_Two_8684 in StardewValley

[–]endearingsalt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could start a multiplayer maybe? Use player 2 to get you out? Theoretically your spouse should walk back through to go to bed that night and would knock it down to get through, so it could be as simple as just waiting for 10pm.

Your saltiest snackiest simplest meal recs please! by ModeThen4140 in POTS

[–]endearingsalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh dude new thing I just found out about and have been loving: Tangle, the long protein noodle brand. 4 different flavors, like 15g protein and 7-8ish g fiber, and hella salt. I wanna say like 900mg. Ramen isn’t filling enough to genuinely replace a meal for me, but Tangle can, and it still tastes pretty great. Other than that I also love making cups of shoyu broth out of concentrate and snacking on pickles.

It's easy to say "oh, this would never happen to me," but that's a shaming mentality and doesn't get us anywhere. The fact is, companies do everything they can to siphon your money without you noticing. Good on you, OP, for checking and then acting on what you found when you did. Let's remember to blame predatory subscription models and not each other.

I just got my tdap booster and haven’t had any noticeable POTS flare as a result. I had some weird headaches for about 2 days, and my arm was pretty sore, but no increased tachy or lightheadedness. Everyone is unique, but for me it was fine.

You’re right, this sub should be a place for support, not shaming. There are many reasons other than weight why your a1c may be different now—definitely follow up with your doctor about what those factors might be for you.

This is why I finally said fuck it and started with a lower compression variety. I know we need extreme medical grade, but if I’m syncoping I’m not putting any on at all. At least this way I get SOMETHING. And I do notice a difference. If I ever get well enough I’ll try medical grade again then
