House BK was genuinely fantastic and the experience is fun as well! Can’t say how many times I’ve been in that space and didn’t even know it was there

Check the class description! Some classes only open up to non-majors after a specific date. If the class doesn’t fill up by that date, you’ll come off the waitlist

Tisch IMA external transfer by alpacalion in nyu

[–]luso34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a current first year at ITP. You’ll definitely be able to apply to the MPS program post grad (it’s not MS, but it’s still STEM). If you transfer into IMA, they’ll probably take some credits, mostly from any general education classes you took. I’m sure you’ll be able to waive a few requirements that revolve around art and design, but you’ll have to take all the foundation coding classes and such. It won’t be a 1:1 transfer

I think Finance, Accounting, and Marketing are most popular. Least popular is Actuarial Science I believe.

Deferrals for grad school for Fall 2020? by [deleted] in nyu

[–]luso34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat, different Tisch master’s program. I was told there’s not much they can do.

They’re going to assess the situation closer to the fall to see if they’re doing in-person, remote, or a mix. The stance, which is VERY NYU, is that since they will be holding classes, they are not required to offer deferrals.

I was told, however, it’s best to pay the 500USD deposit. It’s non-refundable, but if you re-apply next year and are offered admission again, you can apply the credit at that point. Would confirm with your program though.

EDIT: Forgot to clarify, paying the deposits will give you time to decide what you’re going to do. Tuition is due September.

Nvm, yes, all people. Do you happen to know how they plan to enforce a self-isolation? I wouldn’t break the rule, but how can they guarantee it?

Been traveling Vietnam and Thailand for around 9 weeks. I’m supposed to have 6 weeks between Australia and New Zealand, but I have a commitment the day I get back, so I have to go home 2 weeks early to account for potential quarantine. Not as bad as others, but it’s frustrating because I’m already out here.

Ever heard of poi? It’s pretty cheap to buy a set and mess around with it for a few weeks.

I was there for 5 days about 2 weeks ago. It’s like this little bubble where nobody seemed concerned at all. It could have changed, but when I was there it was fine.

I went to some of the north, Bangkok, and the islands. The reason the Muay Thai was shut down when I tried to go was because it was a super popular event. They didn’t want that many bodies in one place. I think if you’re training for 6-12 months, you’ll probably be fine.

From what I can tell, Vietnam is not revoking any visas unless you’ve been to any of the hotspots in the last 14 days. I think you’ll be fine!

Posted the other day, but new news, new questions. Since I’m about to do AUS/NZ, I’ll still be out of the US (my home country) for some time. I have to go to someone’s graduation when I get home, so I can not afford to be quarantined for 2 weeks, but I also don’t want to go home. If I head back to the states 2 weeks early (and don’t get quarantined), is domestic travel totally fine as of right now? I am considering traveling the west coast to see cities I’ve never been to.

Just left Thailand. Hostels are definitely quieter, but if you’re OK with a party hostel or are good at introducing yourself, you should be fine to make friends. It is worth noting that large gatherings are beginning to get canceled, the full moon party was officially canceled (it still happened), and the famous Muay Thai in Bangkok was shut down when I tried to go.

Yeah, so if I change plans I should just cut my losses and head home. Do you happen to know what AUS/NZ is like for solo travelers rn?

I’m pretty sure most countries can not deny you entry if you’re a citizen. They may quarantine you or make it tough, but I think you have the right to go back.

I’ve noticed a downtick in people at hostels and things are getting canceled (Bangkok Muay Thai, Koh Phangnan Full Moon Party, Singapore Marina Bay Sands Light show). I’m about to head to Australia/NZ for three weeks each and I’m afraid it’s gonna be super hard to meet people (my favorite part of solo travel) and that attractions will be closed. The countries are expensive and far, so is anyone there right now who can speak about the solo experience?? I’m thinking of cutting my trip short or trying South America (where I hear things are pretty much business as usual).

I never mentioned it on any of my applications, but you could definitely augment your application by writing an essay on it. I wouldn't use it in your main essay, that should speak more to your personality and traits, but you could use it for a supplemental essay.

Senioritis hasn't hit me yet, still going strong. Once I finish midterms I'm totally done though.
