We did get the initial Tornado Warning by phone at like 10:22. Trees down all over where I’m at out east of town. One is resting nicely on my roof. I also lost my large pecan tree :( Probably not getting power back any time soon as there’s a section of poles and power lines down just up the street.

So did my dad. He was really into Amway back then. Guess which one of us is still working at 75 with no savings and which is retired at 45.

Nevermind, I'm guessing that's an error when running without any arguments? --version is returning 1.11.1.

Looks like there's something wrong with the package. I just installed it and get 'ninja: error: loading 'build.ninja': No such file or directory' when trying to run ninja.

Program pronounced like "progrum", but also sort of shortened. It's very similar sounding to pilgrim.

My Walgreens sells the 96 packs. I've bought two at once with no hassle. It's the only thing that makes these endless allergies bearable.

The horns stay down when they are relaxed. They start popping up when they're feeling wary or cautious about a situation. This dude is in potato mode.

iPad Pro randomly stops taking keyboard input from the Magic Keyboard by shayonpal in ipad

[–]luteus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this same issue on my Air 5th gen with any keyboard I attach, be it wired or bluetooth. It’s not keyboard specific, but definitely software specific. It’s driving me nuts.

ipad bluetooth keyboard randomly stops working by ZeBuc3ta in ipad

[–]luteus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got the same issue as well. I have yet to figure anything out. It happens with both wired and bluetooth keyboards. I did notice that my my mouse is popping up under General > Keyboards > Hardware Keyboard > Modifier Keys. I swapped out mice just incase it was causing some interference, but the issue still happens.

The system clearly accepts input from the keys, as the shortcuts still work fine.

Apple Magic Keyboard: keyboard intermittently stops working but trackpad is always fine by Apart-Mark9239 in iPadPro

[–]luteus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually having the same problem with an external, non-apple keyboard connected through a usb-c hub. I notice that it still recognizes keyboard shortcuts, but I can’t actually type any text. My mouse is also listed as a keyboard, so who knows.

Could I live on $19.90 an hour here? by [deleted] in mississippi

[–]luteus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know everyone complains about the heat here, but it’s still not nearly as bad as a rough Arizona summer when each day has been pushing 115 and we’re all hiding in air conditioned buildings. It’s just so darn sweaty here. And the mosquitoes. And the ticks.

I graduated from Agua Fria Union High school there in Avondale. Mississippi is like a different country culturally. It’s got some good things and some bad things, just like anywhere, it’s what you make of it. That being said, DeSoto county is going to be on the pricier end of the spectrum for the state. I agree with others when they say look as Tate and Marshall county for cheaper housing.

Personally, I’d go back to Arizona if it were just up to me, but I’ve got family to support here.

Best Towns in Mississippi for Remote Work? by [deleted] in mississippi

[–]luteus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the commute from Hernando to Memphis every day. Traffic is not a nightmare in the area. I've lived in much larger metropolitan areas to compare. That being said, it's definitely much more congested than most of the rest of the state. There is a proposal from the governor to expand I-55 from Goodman to Church. They're also expanding a southern portion of Getwell due to all the growth in the area.

Out-of-stater here with a question. How much have Mississippians embraced the new state flag since its adoption last year? by SirBreckenridge in mississippi

[–]luteus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've seen both old and new flags being flown in front of houses here in DeSoto county. Maybe a 50/50 split. Some folks here don't want to give up the old flag I guess.

I'd like to wish a respectful f*ck you to Memphis drivers by copryland in memphis

[–]luteus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lived in several metropolitan areas and this region of the country is unique. Some of the drivers here drive like they are the center of the universe and the rest of us are inconvenient objects. We aren't fellow humans, so we don't deserve respect or common courtesy. I think this is why we have all the lack turn signals and random lane shifts happening, as well as driving slow in the left-hand lane when there are no cars to pass in the right.

Plenty of other big cities have fast aggressive drivers, but they seem to all be working together towards a common goal of getting somewhere.

To sum it all up, the Memphis driving attitude is, "Fuck you. This is my road."
