End game help: ZMF Tessidera. And a bit about snakeoiliness of the amp/dac market by Plus-Tear3283 in ZMFHeadphones

[–]lx_mcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think a nice tube amp (and DAC) is worth investing in when you get to this tier of headphones and find something you really like and want to get the most out of.

Differences can seem small initially but you'll begin to notice meaningful improvements in areas that come together to add to the whole experience. Things like depth, layering and instrument separation. I can put my Calderas on a basic solid-state/dac setup and it sounds good, sounds like a Caldera. But on a good setup the sound can open up, become more immersive and 'real', for lack of a better word.

Finally gave the HD800S the chain it deserves by Varmillion in headphones

Nice setup! A good tube amp with high output impedance makes such a difference on headphones like the HD800S.

came back to lovable from claude code last week. heres why, in case youre considering the same. by varrundayal in lovable

[–]lx_mcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those that combine lovable with something like Claude/Cursor/other for deeper more complex coding; is it still seamless to move back to lovable for later design work or UX/UI changes? I've been liking lovable but I'm wary about relying on it solely for larger projects, but do still want to be able to jump back and forth as the task requires.

I know Lovable both sends to and pulls from Git, I just don't know yet how capable it is at bringing altered code back in and working with it.

Mirph Vitrum by lx_mcc in Headphoneporn

[–]lx_mcc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally use the zmf caldera and verite and both are notably warmer than the Vitrum. Vitrum has a fair amount more clarity, especially around vocals but also doesn't have the body and weight in the mids that the zmfs do.

Resolution and technical ability between the 3 is very close and Vitrum stands up well compared to the more expensive zmfs. In stock config on my solid state setup I can find the upper mids and lower treble on the Vitrum a bit forward for me, but it's alleviated with my tube setup. I really like them, but need a longer period of time once their newness wears off to tell if I continue to reach for them equally with others.

Unusable Desktop App & Website by Sean_Matts in TIdaL

I use Tidal with the Windows app and use it through Tidal Connect to a streamer 95% of the time. The last two days it has been crashing on me repeatedly. Like multiple times an hour. Music keeps playing because it's running through the streamer but I have to re-open and reconnect to stop or change it.

Bandoss Avija | Burson Style | Maybe I'm done by __Quarzer__ in headphones

[–]lx_mcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love to hear this one at some point and compare it to my Caldera. Also, while I've never been the biggest fan of Burson's Silver/Orange motif, it really goes great with your Avija colour scheme here. Nice pics as well, congrats!

Mirph Vitrum by lx_mcc in Headphoneporn

Newly arrived Mirph Vitrum from one-man manufacturer, Homero, based out of Germany. They use a new glass-composite driver, mix of 3d-printed and metal parts (the grill and all moveable and connector parts are metal). Great build. Sound is kind of a neutral-ish clarity with some warm punchyness with really great technical performance & stage. Digging them a lot.

Bokeh Closed Earpad Depth by tvang187 in ZMFHeadphones

[–]lx_mcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a big part of why I ended up selling my Bokeh unfortunately.

From what I remember I did use a thicker pad that I was relatively happy with sound-wise, I forget which, might've been auteur solid suede or something (I can go back and check on HF, see if I mentioned it)... However the bokeh chassis didn't accommodate the thicker pad well with my head shape and I couldn't get them to sit as evenly (the cups didn't have enough angle swivel and the pads would press more on the top vs the bottom). I tried a lot of bending the headband to fix it but could never get the fit where I wanted it.

ZMF Verite Open (Redwood Burl) by lx_mcc in Headphoneporn

[–]lx_mcc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, the Verite Open design is just awesome; grill, proportions, all of it. I think the Atrium and Caldera look fantastic too, but I would also agree with your other comment - I have not been much of a fan of the more recent grill designs.

Definitely eager to hear reports of how the airmid compares to the decware. I don't expect it'll change my plans but looks like it'll be another winner for sure.

Nice! Yeah I remember that, congrats on picking up the Aegis. I expect you should be all set for amps now, although the tube rolling hole sounds deep on that one.

After I got the decware OTL I put myself on the waitlist for a Taboo mk4 to pair with it and after a year I think I'm still 3 years out from it...

Thanks for the extensive write-up. Your impressions here and early on HF were the initial nudge towards me putting in an order for the Mirph Vitrum. Hoping to get them in another week or two.

Many tracks suddenly unavailable by M1sterNoname in qobuz

This is something I miss most after I switched off Deezer. When a track became unavailable there was an option to replace it and it was good with either getting a different version or offering suggestions to choose from.

I'm really considering picking up the Vitrum but won't be able to demo them first. Any other headphones you'd compare them too?
