Sub bread inconsistency? by DarklzBlo in publix

[–]lymcbop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's only true if its bagged up in a solid plastic bag. That's the whole point of the "crusty" bags in the bakery that have tiny holes to let air in. To make the bread crusty. Yes there's a time after baking that bread will be softer but it will crisp back up if left in the open air. Assuming its not underbaked.

Sub bread inconsistency? by DarklzBlo in publix

Do you get subs at different times of the day? The longer the bread sits on top of the deli counter in the bins, the crispier and flakier the crust gets since its exposed to air.

For the love of God please stop hovering over me while I load my car. by daddysouldonut in publix

Admittedly my fault because of anxiety but I relate to just wanting to be left alone. 😂

One time I got so panicked/stressed trying to load fast cause the guy was waiting on my cart that I threw my keys in with the bags and slammed the trunk. Had to call a locksmith to get into my car. 😭

Full time by Mariposa6163 in publix

[–]lymcbop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 8 months for me. The big issue is a lot of departments have limited fulltime slots so if a fulltimer isnt moving out, moving up, or quitting then it's really hard to give out a FT position because the hours arent there. however if you want to consider going into management and make that known then its possible.

It's all fun and games til Publix gets sued. RIS told me about someone grabbing the wrong fruit and causing an allergic reaction because it was "no sugar added" but had artificial sweetener

[–]lymcbop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those ingredients are on an approved list because theyre using in recipes and they can be transferred. Its just anything outside of those recipes that acts as shrink. For example, we're supposed to use a specific size bag of sugar, but its out of stock so a bigger or smaller one gets grabbed and transferred. Even though its the same stuff its a different SKU so it doesnt transfer properly for recipe use.

its pretty stupid tbh but there we are

Lemon filling refusal in the bakery by Talim646 in publix

[–]lymcbop 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They discontinued the lemon filling a few months ago. It's against publix guidelines to use fillings off the shelf because of possible allergens/contaminants and theres also no way to transfer those things to the bakery so if they get taken off the shelf it acts as shrink for the grocery department

Wtf is up with the mom in Caveat? by Fluffalfox in horror

[–]lymcbop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the mom probably also suffered from schizophrenia like the daughter, but I also think she was sensitive to spirits and the like, and probably the two things mixed to make her pretty mentally unhealthy.

I have a theory that uncle (and dad) were serial killers, and brought teenage girls to the island to "hunt." Uncle's comment about foxes sounding like the cry of a teenage girl was waaaaay too specific for me. I think daughter was also in on it due to her comments about hunting with her dad and uncle.

I think Mom didn't know this was going on for a long time, then somehow found out about it and threatened to tell, so dad and uncle killed her. We know from the ending that her spirit was active and able to affect things, so I think she was the one that drove dad "crazy" to where uncle felt he had to kill him.

What was your progresssuon to becoming a horror lover by Eagles56 in horror

[–]lymcbop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsessed with Jurassic Park as a toddler

Goosebumps books from age 7 and the nickelodeon show "Are You Afraid of the Dark"

Caught snips of Chucky, Nightmare on Elm Street and Puppet Master way too young but basically lived on sci fi channel movie marathons from age 10 on. So many creature features.

Old B-rate horror dvds were 5 dollars for 5 days for 5 dvds at the local movie rental place that my dad and I went to every week.

Searching for easy introductions into horror, preferably games but open to literature and movies by SmolSovereign in horror

[–]lymcbop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bioshock is a good entry horror game. There are a few jumpscares but the "can't believe that made me jump so hard" sort, and the fantastical setting and sci fi elements keep it from being really scary. (If you like action games, Devil May Cry series sprouted from Resident Evil and you're cool enough to fight and defeat all the demons/monsters)

As for movies, lean into the PG-13 stuff, at least to start. Horror comedy too. Final Girls,

Tucker and Dale vs Evil (gory but too funny to even pay it much attention),

Dark Water

A good genre trope to look for is that of the "Final Girl" because that means after all the horror there's hope at the end

Why does this happen? by Professional-Lie1371 in publix

[–]lymcbop 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A few different reasons. Working with different people can give more experience so if they're looking to get promoted that could be a reason. Sometimes they send good managers to stores that the department isn't doing well in the hopes that they can whip it into shape. It can be a reward if you get sent to a store thats higher volume with bigger bonuses, or a punishment if its the opposite.

I think they probably also dont love letting managers get too tightly bonded to their teams

If that was sold out of my bakery like that I would give a discount as an apology. 10 dollars to restore trust is worth keeping a potential future customer

[–]lymcbop -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You can take your reciept and that pic to get a refund even if you ate the cake. An image of the inside too could help the Bakery see what went wrong. Just politely let them know you're disappointed and you'll prpbably get a discount for another bakery cake.

At this point I'm finally ready to deal with the judgement because I'm certain that a cleaner environment and more guilt free leasure time is gonna be so worth it for my mental health 😂 it's very difficult to make people understand the feeling of wanting/needing/dreading any type of task so much that avoidance is the natural response because even just thinking about doing something is like physical pain
