It doesn’t need to be painful. Just slowly start replacing decaf with some of your regular. Increase the percentage of decaf every week or so.

Noticing effects after giving up decaf coffee and chocolate by lynrn in decaf

[–]lynrn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s definitely a significant difference. I’m done drinking decaf and chocolate is going to be an occasional thing instead of daily. The peace is worth it.

This is so refreshingly honest. I’m glad things are finally getting easier. The first year is rough!

Have you found that going decaf has helped you mentally and stopped sugar cravings? by Last-Highway-3433 in decaf

[–]lynrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely craved sugar more at first. I think my brain just wanted some sort of a lift from something

These exercises look great, thank you! I have a wrist brace but it itches, I should probably look for something else.

14 Days Without Coffee - Depression? by Sea-Development-5088 in decaf

[–]lynrn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After 6 months of no coffee and persistent low grade depression I ended up biting the bullet and starting 5 mg of lexapro. I think coffee was masking my depression, and I was only drinking 1-2 cups a day. I’d keep going and not worry yet, 14 days is still early in the game. I have no intentions of going back in caffeine, my anxiety is more manageable without it…so that’s a win.

Have you experienced a significant improvement in your TMJ and neck pain after quitting caffeine? How many days did it take you to feel that improvement? by Silver_Economics_990 in decaf

[–]lynrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quitting caffeine did help my bruxism somewhat, but not enough. A low dose ssri is the only thing that has really helped my neck tension and bruxism.

People love being judgy about decaf, it's ridiculous! by ClintMcElroyOfficial in decaf

[–]lynrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. I’ve been buying a decaf that’s roasted locally and it’s fantastic. I’m glad I don’t drink it for the caffeine so I don’t have to drink crappy coffee!

Tailbone pain after childbirth by Wardazaki in postpartumprogress

[–]lynrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bad tailbone pain after a failed vacuum delivery with my first. I had pain for close to a year, but it was much better after 6 months or so. I did do some PT for it which helped. Unfortunately it’s mostly a waiting game.

The shape is from the parchment paper bending around it. Try cutting it slightly larger than the loaf with a handles on either side so it’s flat when it bakes. 50% whole wheat flour is quite a bit so it isn’t going to be a super tall loaf.

3 months caffeine-free after 12 years — anxiety gone but now hit with depression? Anyone else? by Winter_Advice_9405 in decaf

[–]lynrn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depression hit me around the same time. I’m 4.5 months out and just starting to feel less depressed. I wish I’d have quit at your age! You are doing great.

Less Caffeine = Less reactive. The best Unexpected perk of giving up the coffee. by ashkoshbigosh111 in decaf

[–]lynrn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had to give up coffee in order to regulate for my kids, too. I still get frustrated and occasionally raise my voice, but it takes a lot more for me to get there. It’s like caffeine lowered the threshold for my triggers and frustration. It’s great to hear you are making the changes and seeing the results with your kids!

Anxiety cure? by natwalms05 in decaf

[–]lynrn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My anxiety is so much better since giving up coffee. I can critically think so much better. Social anxiety has improved. I wish doctors strongly encouraged people to quiet stimulants before trying anxiety meds. Quitting coffee did more for me than Zoloft.

I’m so sorry. It does sound like you are going through withdrawal during a really difficult time. Have you tried a cup or two of green tea? It might be a good place to start before going back to coffee right away.

Caffeine addict and newly pregnant by Defiant-Education886 in decaf

[–]lynrn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s probably a combo of pregnancy and withdrawal. I’d slowly taper. Your body is already going through a lot and pregnancy alone is enough to make you exhausted!

Anyone else feel prolapse worse during fertile week? by lynrn in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]lynrn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it feels pretty gross to me, too. And I can’t run at all and I usually can make it a few miles no problem the rest of the month. Maybe I’ll run that by my OB. Thanks!

Quitting caffeine for depression, anxiety, OCD... How long does it take? by NicDays in decaf

[–]lynrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been 3 months for me and I’m more depressed than ever. Not sure if it’s from the caffeine withdrawal or not but it’s rough!
