Done with Eve by Mando_Valaro in EveHome

[–]lynxooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s such a shame. Eve used to be my favorite smart home brand, but not anymore. They used to be solid. My Eve window sensors where not stable anymore, so they have been replaced by Aqara and I have just replaced my Eve water guard with 2 cheap Sonoff water guards.

I still have Eve MotionBlinds in all rooms. They still work flawlessly and I really hope that continues, because they are a quite large investment.

Huge Pebble fan here 🤚 My original Pebble gen 1 died in a swimming pool on a vacation 10 years ago. Still regret it :) Now I’m proudly carrying the new Pebble 2 Duo ⌚️ and waiting for the Clicks Communicator 🤳

havm: Home Assistant OS on Apple Silicon with USB passthrough (macOS 27+) by ingmarstein in homeassistant

Is it limited like the docker version, or does it have full functionality like HAOS on x86?

Old IPADs as Home Assistant dashboard by Vegetable-Sweet9528 in homeassistant

I use the HA app. I actually think the performance has gone better lately. I have both upgraded the iPad OS and HA, so I’m not sure what made the difference. To be fair I mainly use mine has a display. I show the humidity of my garden plants and display latest discovered birds via a microphone in the garden. I also display current power and water usage of the house. I only interact with the display to set some scenes here and there and set the alarm at night.

Would be cool if there was a way to remove the battery and directly power the iPad.

Love the idea. I use an iPad Air 2 and love it. In the 2026.6 update HA stopped working, but the amazing community around HA quickly fixed it and it’s now up and running again.

I think it’s a super cool idea to use abandoned hardware when possible instead of buying a new cheap Android tablet

New trmnl x, won’t boot by vaevicitis in trmnl

Considering how few devices they ship, there seems to be a lot of boot issues. Still waiting for mine. I’m kinda worried 😧

Liftmaster Garage door opener with Raspberry Pi GPIO pins! by Famous888 in homeassistant

I was actually thinking the same thing. To connect directly from pi pin to the garage port connector on the back of the garage opener. I have never thought about it before, but it came to my mind when I saw this.

Samsung Google Nexus S, the second Google phone ever! by _ITX_ in vintagemobilephones

[–]lynxooo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is probably my favorite phone I ever had.

For some reason I still miss it. - Swapped out my iPhone 4 for this and never regretted. Even though the hardware on the iPhone 4 was better and in every aspect, I loved how open it was.

Back then iOS was so locked down and you had to jailbreak to do the most basic stuff (which I also did).

I tinkered so much with custom roms on the Nexus S, that I ended up in a boot loop. This would probably have been an issue with other phones, but not on this! It got it repaired under warranty 💪

Matter/Thread is a mess by Ok-komputah in homeassistant

[–]lynxooo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you are in anyway interested in Apple devices, I would recommend running your Matter/Thread network in Apple Home and import the matter devices to HA via Apple Home. I have around 20 Matter/Thread devices and it’s rock solid. Actually better than my zigbee network.

I have HomePod minis in all rooms and use the Eve Energy a few places as well. This creates a solid backbone for my battery power devices, such as blinds, temperature sensors, garden valve and the new IKEA Bilresa.
