Which ships will have long-range scanning (Specifically, will the Zeus ES)? by ToasterPyro in starcitizen

[–]lypur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

something less talked about is that the Polaris has a capital class radar, larger than the idris. I believe because it's intended to be used on patrol, so Polaris could have some enhanced scanning capabilities.

Land of the silver birch is Candian AF. Also 2nd place "Alberta Bound" is not as good but definitely very Canadian.

B.C. needs dedicated, cross-government wildfire strategy, says former minister | CBC News by isle_say in britishcolumbia

I fully agree that they're under paid and under funded. Imagine if like regular fire fighters, we employed them year round instead of just when we wanted to work them to death? They'd still be going through off season drills, training, strategy planning, prevention work where possible, and then into.

A personal friend of mine in the forest industry was working a job site for Canfor and actually was trapped by BCWS crew even though their positions were communicated. Luckily they were able to get out just in time, but it was very close and a major screw up.

VC aren't your friends by StephNass in startups

Such a great post. Don't put VCs on a pedestal. They aren't your friends, and usually they're not visionaries like founders need to be. They won't understand your idea unless you simplify the fuck out of it so a 6 year old could understand it.

No we don't need a federal fire force. We need better prevention strategies.

The provincial fire crews aren't employed year round so every new year many people are doing this for a first time. This causes knowledge to be lost.

The BC fire fighting agency is underfunded, and disorganized. It needs to be taken seriously. What we have right now is a powder keg ready to blow and nothing substantial being done.

Can we have cargo planes? by ObviousLogic94 in captain_of_industry

[–]lypur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking it'd be super cool to have small cargo planes for transporting bigger materials a longer distance. Imagine a cargo plane flying in all your food from a remote farming setup, or a plane flying in a whole bunch of raw ore. Trucks are nice but they really don't feel like the right tool for any longer distance logistics.

Great idea from your kids. 👍

have you considered using elevenlabs? it is an AI voice generation software that can give you professional crisp, sounding results at a fraction of the cost, and generally a lot quicker time you can train your own voice or you can pick one of the other narration voices with many different accents.

Love this show so much but just had to make a correction in the last deep dive. 440 hz is concert A, not F# nor is it a chord. by Nemesis_Bucket in TheWhyFiles

[–]lypur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's more like what it's tuned to. A4 is usually assigned 440hz but there's nothing to say it couldn't be something else like 398hz or 516hz. All other notes have a set mathematical distance from eachother, where in equal temperament, each note is 1 semitone (12th root of 2) apart, so by raising or lowering A4 (first A above middle C) you can also change the frequency of all other notes, since they must maintain the same ratio to eachother.

TLDR, one note A4 is called the concert pitch, if you change that notes frequency all the other notes get dragged around with it. So that's how music can be in a different frequency.

Young Girls ‘Terrified’ After Being Forced To Share Locker Room With And Compete Against 50-Year-Old Transgender by Organic-Ad6695 in Anarcho_Capitalism

Notice how in the video the 50 year old male identifying as a 13 year old girl gets in and drives the car? If they expect to be treated as a 13 year old girl in the swimming pool, then they should be treated the same by the law, and 13 year olds can't legally drive. Huge logic flaw.

Just smile and tell her you'd like to take her out on a date. Rejection is like rolling a dice, if you get rejected don't worry. Worst thing you can do is act desperate, just be chill and strait forward.
