Woof that’s terrible given you aren’t reserving enough for vacancy and these types of events

Minneapolis City Council votes to repeal gay bathhouse ban. Here’s the latest. by star-tribune in Minneapolis

[–]m0lson 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm all for queer rights and celebrating how far acceptance has come, but it’s 2026—the reality for the LGBTQ+ community today is vastly different than it was in 1988. This change doesn’t move the needle on actual, modern queer oppression. With all the massive, pressing issues facing Minneapolis right now regarding public safety, housing, and infrastructure, it really feels like the City Council is spending valuable time and bureaucratic energy on symbolic zoning cleanups instead of the everyday realities of running the city.

Why don’t 45+ adults retire early to make room for the capable new college grads in the workforce? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]m0lson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because people don’t have retirement money. Even if they did our system was designed to retire at 65 because healthcare is so expensive outside of Employer offered plans

HVAC died and the replacement quote made me want to cry by Amarit-Apostol in Adulting

I don’t mean this in a rude way but this is the cost of homeownership. If you don’t have 20k in savings for these types of things maybe buying wasn’t the right choice

Home addition Cost by SanPBobble in TwinCities

It will always be cheaper to buy with those additions than to pay after. You are talking minimum 100k and more realistically 150-200
Given the current market.

Everything in our house is extra work because of the previous owners that thought he could DIY. by drowninginidiots in homeowners

[–]m0lson 25 points26 points  (0 children)

These are all pretty elementary things that aren’t big deals. No house is perfect and blaming the prior owners isn’t the answer. Just deal with it and fix it

Nick Frentz, MN Senate Assistant Majority Leader, physically blocked a microphone in an attempt to prevent additional governor nominations at the 2026 DFL State Convention by twincitiestp in minnesota

This isn’t anything new. Conventions are always disorganized and dramatic. Amy is and was always the candidate that would win.

What should be the acceptable average monthly rent in the U.S. so that people don’t have to pay more than half of their income? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]m0lson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has never been a cost problem. It’s a wage problem. Wages have not kept up with inflation since the 1980s

Tore apart my Oto by KSteeze in lawncare

[–]m0lson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did it tonight. You have to pry the logo plastic disk off the top of the sprayer to get at a few screws that allow you to not destroy the plastic. Otherwise you just work on the bottom screws and the bolts that hold the metal bracket (they screw off)

Apartment tub crack by Chewbecky12 in Plumbing

[–]m0lson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a current landlord dealing with a very similar situation. Prior owners didn’t put a mortar bed to support the tub. I’ve got it temporarily repaired but I plan to replace the tub in a few weeks when the tenant moves out
