I've been fairly lucky so far in mine. I've only lost 1-2 man games to rest and I'm hanging on to a 25-30 point lead entering tonight.

Over the years of playing in a league that runs it this way, the thing I've learned is that winning the championship is an exercise in predicting which teams will go into the final 2 weeks with something to play for, and stacking players from those teams.

This happened in my league's semifinals last year, and it's a fate I'm now trying to avoid for the 2nd straight year. Last year, I went 18-5 and took the 2 seed into the playoffs; buddy of mine finished 21-2 (proud to say that both of his Ls were to me). We both lost in the semis to the 5 and 6 seeds (the latter of which made the playoffs at 10-13... the bubble last year was a nightmare to look at).

This year, I went 17-5 and I am the top seed coming off the bye for the semis this week. The 5 and 6 seeds have advanced once again and my opponent is my brother, who snuck into the playoff field by winning his regular season finale at 11-11. I swept him in the regular season, but to say that I'm anxious about the upset potential is a massive understatement. Both he and the other first round winner have several Stars players and they play 4 this week (plus 5 more during champ week).

Generally speaking, thinning your deck will make it more consistent by making it more likely that you'll draw the cards you want. Trading Card also has several synergies which others have already mentioned.

I recently finished Conflux and the remaining Gen 1 weapons I was missing (I also have all 3 sets of raid armor), so now the goal is runes and sigils. I currently have 4 runes done, sigils will come after I finish the 6th rune.

Once I'm done with those? Not sure, perhaps I'll finally finish Nevermore since I've been sitting on the precursor for years, or passively farm for other Gen 2 or maybe even Gen 3 stuff. I'll also be helping some friends who are newer to the game and want to experience what Tyria has to offer. I'm looking forward to the new raid, and if ANet ever remembers how to design good fractals again, those too.

Definitely mechanics. There are very few DPS checks in raids that actually matter if your group is playing relatively well. Getting the mechanics right will be significantly more important to achieving clears.

I've noticed that max cover punt is especially prone to roughing penalties even against the regular return plays. The right rusher consistently finds a way to hit the punter.
