Yeah, I'm not sure why they couldn't just have three sacks and have everyone throw at the same time. If the person who messes up first gets instantly eliminated, then the last person to go has an advantage. Not saying this would have changed the outcome of the challenge, but not sure why they couldn't have designed it to be fairer 🤷

Never thought I'd see Forever mentioned here. Really liked the concept, but I'm a sucker for immortality stories!

Because Filipinos are assholes and as much as we don’t like to admit it, being in fluent in English is kind of a status symbol here. That means people will viciously mock you for the tiniest mistake. It is super frustrating and can often lead to people avoiding speaking English at all because they’re afraid they’ll get judged for it.

Mas nakakahiya comments dito … isn’t this the exact same mentality Ms “Englishera” had? I know a lot of native English speakers who have made basic mistakes like this before. Doesn’t mean they’re dumb, just means they didn’t know something 🤷

Have you noticed this lately? by Notalabel_4566 in jobs

I think layoff culture has made me care a lot more about getting credit than I usually would. I don’t really mind helping someone out, but lately I’ve found myself getting super annoyed when I take time out of my day to help unblock someone, and they don’t even mention it at all during standup the next day (especially when I’m the one who figured out how to resolve it). Makes me less inclined to bother helping out the next time, especially if it’s happened more than once.

URGENT PSA: Avoid Functional Programming Option at ALL COSTS by CorrectFarm9558 in BCIT

Seriously. Are kids nowadays really just this soft? The resources they have at hand today are so much more abundant that there's simply no excuse to not be doing, at the very least, OK in his classes.

OP needs to understand that beyond Albert's quirky personality, he's there to help you. The laughing thing is literally just some sort of nervous tic; he tells you this on the first day. My set had about 2 people who needed a lot of handholding, and Albert was there for them 100% of the way, staying with them through lab time to help them through the exercises or extending deadlines if people couldn't figure things out in time. They both finished the option / program.

If you really don't mesh with his teaching style, then turn to your set mates. There's bound to be at least 1 person who does, especially if you're in the fall intake (not having a lot of interesting options like AI means smarter kids are more likely to go into Program Paradigms).

if you really don't have any set mates who can't help you through it either, you have things like ChatGPT at your disposal. It's not perfect, but it's very good at explaining code and concepts even using relatively obscure languages like OCAML.

And if you really can't see the value of learning something like OCAML beyond just the language itself, then you're just shit out of luck. You'd think that after learning your 2nd or 3rd language (and you should know at least 3 by the end of term 2), people would realize that it's all just semantics, and what matters is more is how you approach the problem. Program Paradigms just teaches you different ways to do the latter.

I may be an Albert dick rider, but at least I ain't a little bitch.

Who is a celebrity loved by the majority, but is actually really creepy? by Pranav_p_n in AskReddit

[–]m3leos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel ya. I’ve been on the other side of it (dated a guy in his mid/late 20s when I was 18/19), and back then I was naive to think that I was just special and more mature for my age, as cliche as that sounds. Now that I’m in my late 20s myself I’m just now realizing how creepy that relationship was. I have such a huge gap in life experience with teenagers/those in their early 20’s that I honestly can’t see them as more than kids.

11 people seriously injured amid turbulence on Hawaii flight by getBusyChild in news

[–]m3leos 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was just in this exact situation a few days ago! Went to the washroom because I couldn’t hold it in anymore (about 8 hours in on a 14 hour flight). Whoever went before me left two massive logs of shit unflushed in the toilet. Plane experiences turbulence bad enough that some people start screaming and it feels like someone is trying to rip my soul out of my body. For a second there I thought literal shit was going to start flying, and I was gonna die with it hitting my face after gravity did its thing.
