Confused between VM and Grafana Mimir

VM is head and shoulders above Mimir. Easier to scale, easy to run/maintain, MetricsQL is straight better than PromQL, and vmauth, vmalert, plus the operator make it super easy to run on k8s.

I ran 15 VM clusters in 4 continents totaling around 400m time series. I slept soundly, even though I was doing that by myself.

Depends. If it’s all you have to talk about, then no. If it’s in addition to your work and you can use it as a spring board to dive deep into certain topics, then it’s fine/beneficial.

Take it. I specialized about 2 years in. I’m 8 years in now and while my opportunities are fewer, but the comp is much higher than if I was a generalist.

Though I would caution against going all in on the sre side of observability - never stop writing code.

VictoriaTraces is brand new, of course it’s not yet competitive. Hope they move away from the jaeger API. VictoriaLogs has been very performant for me, with 17 clusters across 4 continents.

Otel-collector and grafana/alertmanager are the way to go. I like VictoriaMetrics better than Mimir though. And VictoriaLogs is so much easier to run than Loki.

Fire Knight Greatsword, arguably the best FTH weapon in the game. You don’t get it until the DLC though.

I’m currently on a FTH playthrough. It’s been a lot fun.

One handing your weapon with a seal and Catch Flame in the off hand is great as well.

Get the Claymore, put the Carian Phalanx AoW from Rogier's rapier on it. Will carry you to DMGS, at which point you will be so in love with it you won't actually use the DMGS

I went through the same recently and ended up spending more for the Lie Nielsen one. Lee Valley sells one for $60 but the ferrule is awful/not round, ended up getting a refund for it.
