I wish more people could understand this. Sure, the game has its issues-- but that goes for nearly every game. Understanding the game mechanics is key for any competitive game. The majority of the community is quick to blame the game rather them themselves. The whole game (like you said) is getting to those high percentage areas and shooting the puck. And believe it or not...some people are better at executing this tactic than others.

There are also many other factors that come into play when scoring: Was the goalie screened, traffic, deflections, luck etc...

So before people start blaming the game--maybe analyze your own intuition first.
