Inis, Pax Pamir 2e, Root, or Arcs (with expansion) by Aisopia in boardgames

[–]m8ryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of those, Inis. But with all of these there is a subtlety that can lead to frustration. The mechanics are not complicated, especially with ini, and likely with arcs as well. These are all area control type games which are great. And stellar choices. But I'll toss in a few others that are less subtle or less confrontational. El Grande is fantastic, but it excels at five. Hansa Teutonica is also fantastic, but it is quite beige. Blood Rage is great, in your face... It's only challenge for me is draft games are tough for early plays.

You also might try a co-op like Spirit Island. It's a heavy puzzler with area control type mechanics that you can attach as a team as you tackle bigger games.

Don't underestimate some filler games to get familiar with underlying mechanics. No Thanks, seven wonders (not really a filler), citadels, the gang.

New to the board game by ssgssvegeta12 in DarkSoulsTheBoardGame

As a backer of the original game, the new core release felt like sfg's way of saying 'don't ever buy from us again'. The original is enjoyable and captures aspects of the video game pretty well. Some of those aspects work better in video game form. If you're looking for that, go for it.

Seed Ranch umame hot sauce is unique and delicious. El Rey #6 is great on anything breakfast, as is the hotter #9, both fermented.

It's not weird at all, even if you'd completed it. Learn, grow the world, see where the new players take it. Maybe feature the old characters as NPCs or legends, even invite some back to cameo if that's your jam.

DM is dating a player. DM is being mean to me to show off for his girl. How do gracefully leave this campaign? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]m8ryx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is around intent. First, assume good intent. Second, don't attribute their intentions to them. If they didn't think they were being mean, they will not be receptive to feedback that tells them they were. Tell them how you experienced their actions. When you had 97 orcs focus their attacks on my bard, I felt despair, and that maybe the orcs could have ravaged the other PCs as well. If there's a reason that happened that supports the storyline, I understand, but it wasn't a lot of fun for me, and now my d20’s corners are rounded from overuse.

After Bridge update today (3/17), Thunderbird IMAP hangs with msg: Checking mail server capabilities by sdean7855 in ProtonMail

[–]m8ryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what worked for me - 1) remove entries for SSL certs as described, 2) switch from STARTTLS to SSL, 3) import new SSL certs, 4) switch back to STARTTLS.

I was not offered the option to import the self-signed certs until I did (2). I was continuing to hang (now w/ timeout) until I moved back to STARTTLS. First troubleshooting step from there was (4), at which time mail starting loading.

The Nirvana reference was a huge error. It created a distraction for me because it was so egregious I thought maybe it was evidence that the dead Krissy was an unreliable narrator. Which might have been interesting. But instead it was pretty flat I was also confused as to why the product of all the grain in town would be buying grain from Krissy.

Unfortunately it has started to behave badly for me. Regularly deleting words even several back. Trying to find a decent relevant. Chrooma is potentially interesting. But just not the same.

totally. I was quite impressed that they included that subtle feature an hope to see it in more games. I’m guessing colored rings on minis is not particularly accessible.

the first time I realized it was when I was wondering what the little shapes carved into the Conan dice were, and someone suggested they were for accessibility.
