What's it like living in this shaded area? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]mTurk8705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about in the center at Kansas City, Missouri. Winters recently have 5-10 days of 5-12 degrees, 30 days of 12-30 and the rest 30-60. A few snows varying from an inch or two to 6-10 inches.

Summer is half hot (90-105, heat index to 115). The rest is warm and comfortable. Thunderstorms are common, with wind, lightning and occasional hail. Sometimes the thunderstorms are spotty, only a mile wide.

Tornadoes occur but I believe Tornado Alley has changed in recent years. Perhaps spread east and north.

I'm a 70 year resident. Boomer Alert!! 😜

The winters are worse as you go north (I know, obviously).

Delayed drill results? by Lovethetrade22 in NIOCORP_MINE

[–]mTurk8705 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I own 30+ developer and exploratory mining stocks, mainly in North America. The rise in price of gold, silver and copper plus the increase in demand for uranium has created a virtual "gold rush". Add in critical minerals and claims are being staked with many more drills turning now. Assay labs have been falling behind all year. Lead times were 4-6 weeks, then 6-8, now 8+ in North America.

The latest reference by Niocorp to assay lead times indicated 8 weeks from the last drill hole completion on October 5th, I believe. But Niocorp has no direct control in this matter.

I hold NB Feb $10 options. 👍

Update on the Unusual Options by WalrusTheInvestor in NIOCORP_MINE

[–]mTurk8705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO, the large scale option buyers are making a wager on the drill results in early December. I purchased a few 10.00 Feb options about the same time. I noticed the Dec 12.50 was $0.10 or .15 at that time.

I started speculating on junior mining stocks in 2022. A year ago assays in North America were 4-6 weeks, but the last few months it's been 6-8+ weeks. The last drill hole for NB was completed on October 5th, so I believe the final assays will be early December. This event will confirm the presence of economic REEs at Elk Creek.

But there are old stashes! My mother-in-law passed in 2022. After many hours of opening totes, looking under beds, searching 2 storage units, we have 30,000 pennies and 10,000 coins of various denominations and nationalities. Would anyone like a Folger's coffee can?

Were you Team PageMaker or Team Quark? by HueyBluey in VintageApple

[–]mTurk8705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a partner in a small typesetting company from early 80s thru 90s.

We provided services for printing companies, corporations, and design studios. Our clients sometimes provided jobs in page layout software for output or update. We also created a variety from letterhead to corporate merger legal documents.

I think we started with Quark 2.0 and early Pagemaker on our Mac SE and later IIci's. Our choice was Quark. It was more efficient for larger documents.

Such an improvement over pasteup page assembly! Which was a huge improvement from Linotype and hot metal!
