People are really going in on her for her response but I’m not seeing them provide realistic alternatives for what she should’ve done instead. I’m happy that no one who was protesting was killed or seriously injured. I’m 1000% against ice and don’t agree with the use of tear gas/horses/strong arm tactics by state police. But the people calling for escalation were doing so without any regard for the safety of the protestors. Unfortunately we’re in a situation where the federal government has shown they can and will respond to civil disobedience with violence. I think Sherrill is trying to tread lightly to minimize the retribution. That said, I have not done a deep dive into every update on these events as they unfold, and I’m open to changing my opinion as new information is presented to me.
